I'm a straightforward girl. I see what I like and I take it. It's been the same when I was little and it's still the same now. So when I went out clubbing with my friends that night and I saw this highly attractive guy, I just knew I had to have him...

"Fucking stop," I gritted out as the pain became almost unbearable. A red haze clouded my eyes as the urge to plunge my hand through someone's chest overcame me.
Screams.
I wanted to hear them.
The beautiful melodious sounds of torture as the human writhed in pain and cried crimson. What I'd give to lick their tears away. To slowly watch the life fade from their eyes and go into my stomach.
This insatiable thirst couldn't be contained.
I had to kill.
"Guh," I grunted, my nails digging into my palms until they drew blood.
I couldn't let it win.
As one of the best within my tribe for my mental fortitude, I couldn't let this spirit win. Being its host was different from possession.
I was in control.
"Get out here," I gritted, forcing the murky cloud attached to my heart to show itself. Black mist oozed from my body to form a disfigured outline of a person.
It floated in front of me, a faceless black blob of malicious intent. Nothing good ever came from these spirits, but as a member of the Grilen family, it was my duty to bond with one and use its powers to strengthen my abilities as an assassin. Or was it a former assassin?
If this weren't a permanent contract, I'd have long since gotten rid of the abomination. I no longer wanted to be an assassin. I had given up my title the moment I ran away from my tribe.
Kekeke
The sound of its voice grated against my ears like a knife would a chalkboard.
I could feel its impatience and indignation. It didn't like that I had stopped killing. We made a pact to benefit each other, and I was breaking it. I didn't care, though. I was done being a killing machine for my tribe. I wanted to live like a normal human.
Even at the risk of losing my sanity.
I glared at the thing and hissed. "Enough. You can't break me."
Searing pain shot through my brain and I bit my tongue to stop myself from alerting the guards outside the door.
I had to get this under control before they smelt the blood from my self-inflicted wounds.
I tried reaching for the neck of the nuisance, but my fingers slid right through. Of course, I couldn't touch it with my bare hands.
Kekekeke
I groaned, and even though it hurt to use my abilities at the moment, I sucked it up. Mist swirled around my clenched fist as I shot it out to attack the thing. I pushed through the pain and willed the mist to detach from my hand and shoot the spirit in its head.
