I'm a straightforward girl. I see what I like and I take it. It's been the same when I was little and it's still the same now. So when I went out clubbing with my friends that night and I saw this highly attractive guy, I just knew I had to have him...

I tapped my finger rhythmically on the table as I suffered through the chatter between Starr and Riana. We all sat gathered around a table with tea and delicacies laid out in front of us.
Riana rearranged everything well, though I doubt she wanted me to be a part of it.
Elias had run off with a few maids to visit Melissa, Remi's niece, who was currently staying in the castle.
With him gone, just us ladies were left and the topic of discussion was so boring that I found myself tuning out.
I'd much rather be in the library, continuing my research to prepare for my future. I had no idea what was going to happen moving forward, but I knew that whatever it was, I wouldn't run from it.
I was tired of running.
Remi made me realize that later on in years when I've managed to outrun all my problems, there wouldn't be anyone by my side to celebrate with. I didn't want that. Especially now that I'd seen how fun it was with someone by my side.
I pursed my lips and ripped myself from my thoughts, my eyes scanning the women sitting at the table with me.
Riana preoccupied Starr with explanations of childbirth preparations. Though I doubt she needed it since this was her second child.
Leona was strangely quiet despite her previous outgoing actions. She hadn't said a word to me since we sat down.
I looked at her to see her shifting restlessly in her seat. Her eyes kept flitting around the room, yet the disappointment in her eyes was evident.
I furrowed my brows.
Was she waiting for someone?
Her mate, perhaps?
"Have you sensed him?" I asked curiously.
Her eyes snapped to me, and she stilled before softening into a breathtaking smile. She nodded shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I think I can. I can't smell him yet, but I've been restless since we entered the castle. It can only mean that he's close."
This paused the other conversation, and both ladies turned to look at us with excited eyes.
Riana leaned forward to clasp Leona's hands that were resting on the table. "Sweetie! Why didn't you say something sooner? How about we take a walk and see if you can find him?"
Leona shook her head and glanced down at her attire. "No, I'm not ready yet. I want to be dressed to perfection when I meet him."
"Leona, you look beautiful already." Starr pointed out.
Leona firmly shook her head and pouted. "But I'll be even more beautiful at the mating ball. Then I'll take his breath away."
I chuckled to myself. "Well, you're quite the romantic."
