Three hours later and I found myself sitting in front of Dereck's desk helping him sort out the many letters received from multiple people. Some were invitations to events, some were complaints filed by certain influential figures and some were requests for aid from individual packs under the kingdom's rule.

I was always a fast learner, so it was pretty easy for me to fall in tune with Derek as he went into details about things I wasn't familiar with.

The time flew by quickly with all of us occupied and I shifted from my position in the chair to the sofa, my body curled as I slowly browsed through each letter, piling them into whatever I deemed urgent and non urgent. At first, I was apprehensive about doing that in fear of messing things up, but Remi reassured me that he'd trust my judgement regardless.

I had a feeling that was him trying to score brownie points.

I skimmed through a letter addressed to Remi from the Celestial Alpha Kingdom requesting aid in their war and my eyebrows shot up.

"The Celestial Kingdom is still at war?" I murmured to myself, completely forgetting the fact that I was among supernatural beings with very sensitive ears.

Remi and Dereck looked over to see the letter in my hands. Remi frowned. "Is that from Theodore? Is it another request for aid?"

I nodded. "Yeah, he says it's urgent. Do you want to look at it?"

When he nodded, I got up and went to hand the letter off to him. He took it and scanned it over before resting it aside. Of course, my eyes migrated towards his that shone with the indication of a mind link. Was he contacting someone?

"You know about the situation of the Celestial Kingdom?" Dereck asked curiously, leaning onto his desk with his chin resting in his linked fingers.

Instantly, an idea shot some awareness into me. An alibi. An excuse.

The lie flew smoothly from my lips as I showed slight hesitation before speaking. "Yes, I'm from the South Union. After an attack on my home town, I lost my family and was forced to flea to this Kingdom, that was the safest refuge I could think of." I took a deep breath, my nails digging into my palm as I looked into his eyes. "I watched my parents die right in front of me, torn apart by wolves."

Dereck sucked in a sharp breath. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Remi stiffen.

The South Union, a human kingdom with a longstanding anarchy has been at war with the Celestial Alpha Kingdom for over ten years. The situation in both Kingdoms were so unstable that citizens often ran away for a better life. There was no way for them to confirm my words because of where I came from. The South Union hated werewolves, thus why they were at war in the first place. They're a powerful kingdom with technology that could shake the foundation of a single kingdom alone. They'd never answer to a Kingdom like the Heavenly Alpha Kingdom, that's a whole continent away, even worse because it's a kingdom run by werewolves.
