"I'm here!" Elizabeth shouted as soon as she walked into her best friend's house.

Scarlett appeared from the living room and she sighed, smiling a little. "Keep it down, she's sleeping." She said, giving her friend a quick hug.

"What happened to your hair?" Elizabeth asked, seeing that her friend is bald.

"Shaved it," Scarlett said, smiling. "I want to support Y/N."

"She shaved her head?" Elizabeth asked, furrowing her eyebrows. She knows how much Y/N loves her hair.

"I shaved it for her, but yeah." Scarlett said. "Her hair is falling out, so we decided to just shave it."

"Where is she?" Elizabeth asked, getting worried now.

"She's sleeping, but we need to talk." Scarlett said.

Scarlett called Elizabeth as soon as her girlfriend fell asleep. She knows Elizabeth would want to know what the doctor said about Y/N's condition.

"What's going on?" Elizabeth asked. "Is she okay? Did the doctor said anything? Chemo finally working?" She asked questions after questions.

"Let's go to the kitchen." Scarlett said. She didn't wait for any response and just walked towards the kitchen.

"Scar, what's going on? You're scaring me." Elizabeth said.

Scarlett took a deep breath and faced Elizabeth. "Her doctor called earlier and told us about chemo and her results." She said.

"And?" Elizabeth asked, her heart is beating so wild against her chest. She's scared and she's worried.

"Chemo's not working." Scarlett said, shaking her head. "And it's stage four."

Elizabeth gasped, "Stage four? W-What now? Is there anything else that we can do?"

"Unfortunately, no." Scarlett said, she can feel her heart breaking. "And... her doctor said that she only has a month or two to live."

Elizabeth's heart shattered and she gasped, she started crying. "N-No... no, right?"

Scarlett bit her bottom lip, crying too. "I-I don't wanna believe it either, but Y/N made her decision and she doesn't want to stay in the hospital for her remaining days."

"I-I need to see her." Elizabeth said.

"She's sleeping in her room." Scarlett said, "You go ahead, I'll give you guys some time."

Elizabeth thanked Scarlett and immediately made her way towards her best friend's room. She opened the door and saw Y/N sleeping peacefully.

"Y/N..." Elizabeth whispered, sitting on the bed. "Y/N." She called again.

Y/N groaned before she opened her eyes. She immediately sat down when she saw her best friend crying.

"Tell me you're not dying!" Elizabeth cried.

Y/N bit her bottom lip and didn't say anything. There's nothing she can say that will make her best friend feel okay.

Elizabeth sobbed and hugged her best friend.

"I-I'm sorry..." Elizabeth whispered.

Y/N pulled away from the hug and looked at her best friend, "Liz, what are you apologizing for?" She asked.

"I know this is much harder for you because you have Scarlett now." Elizabeth said, "And I can only imagine what Scar's feeling with this. It's my fault, I shouldn't have pushed you tw—"

"Hey, no, no." Y/N said, she wiped her tears before wiping Elizabeth's. "You have nothing to be sorry for, okay? Having Scarlett is the best thing that ever happened in my life. And that's thanks to you. And yes, t-this... fucking hurts. But we talked already and your friend is just as stubborn as me. She's not leaving my side."

Elizabeth sighed. "You guys are both stubborn."

Y/N chuckled, "That's true."

Elizabeth clenched her jaw, "What now?"

"I'll wait," Y/N said, "But I'm not waiting in the hospital, I'm just gonna... seize the day as long as I can."

"This isn't happening." Elizabeth said, shaking her head. "This can't be happening."

"But it is," Y/N said, sighing. "It is."

Elizabeth hugged her best friend, "I'm going to miss you so much."

Y/N hugged her best friend tighter, "I know."

And she didn't say anything else after that; she doesn't have to. She just hugged Elizabeth and cherished this moment with her because this also might be the last time she'll ever hug her best friend. Because there's no certainty now, she doesn't know if she'll ever wake up tomorrow or the next day. So, whatever she does from now on, she'll do it with passion and love.
