I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and stayed warm for those affected by this wild icy snowstorm! ❄️

This chapter is going to contain cyberbullying, and yes, this is loosely based on current events with a particular actor.

Shout out to Jesse_Winter_Soldier For being amazing!

As always, like and leave me a comment!

The next chapter will be fluffy domestics Christmas goodness.....maybe a pinch of smut....maybe...let me know if you want some in the next chapter!

"Captain—"

"Steve, please.", he corrects the interviewer.

They do this every single time Miss Montenegro interviews him. The Washington Journal and Steve have an understanding since he's been in the spotlight, which has been a while; he's always been interviewed by the same woman. Kayla Montenegro is a respectable journalist turned podcast and YouTube interviewer for the Journal's new channel. She has not once tried to twist his words or corner him in an interview, they have a friendly back and forth, but she never pushes it to flirt. After the pictures of Steve and Aubrey in New York and the rumor mill running full speed about his relationship and retirement, Kayla reached out to him at S.W.O.R.D and asked for an interview to get not only the Journal head on the scoop, but letting Steve himself control the situation. Thus, his respect for the woman sitting across from him.

She smiles, then clears her throat. "Thank you very much for meeting with us on such short notice.", she says, sitting back in her plush red armchair.

"It's a pleasure, ma'am. I've long enjoyed speaking with you throughout the many years we've known each other.", he nods, leaning back in the red chair, across the small round end table from the dark-headed woman in her tight black dress and black shoes with the blood red bottoms.

She nods, "Well then, please call me Kayla.", she says, crossing her legs. "We've known each other what, a decade now?", she asks. Steve nods his head with a hum. "So let's skip all the mumbo jumbo and get to the good stuff.", she smiles as the super soldier chuckles, "Rumors are floating around that you're retiring the shield. Is there any truth to these rumors?", she asks.

"Yes and no.", Steve scrunches his nose, wobbling his hand. Kayla raises a dark brow. "Let me clarify that Steve Rogers will be retiring, Captain America will not be. My successor will carry the shield.", he says.

Kayla cocks her head to the side, "And do tell who our new Captain America will be?", she asks.

"I can't do that just yet.", he flashes a mischievous smile.

She laughs, "Fine keep your secrets. Can you tell us why you are retiring?", she inquires.

"That I can divulge," he chuckles light-heartedly. "I've been in the hero business for....a very long time, and I feel like the world is in good hands with the group of Avengers we've got now and with Maria Hill at the helm of S.W.O.R.D, I have no doubt that they will be able to handle whatever comes their way.", he says confidently. "To be honest, I've been thinking about retiring for several years now, I just never felt ready until recently. Now I'm ready to hang up the suit and trade in all the avenging for a domestic life.", he smiles, a fond look on his face.
