A Twisted Halloween: Terror is Trending

Chapter 9: Cool AND Eco-Friendly

The next destination for the Halloween management committee is the outside of Mister S's Mystery shop. They see jack-o'-lanterns, lanterns, crates, and a lot of rugs and patches of clothes on the roof, and other essentials. Soon, they meet Jamil who's been waiting for them.

Seeing the group arrive, Jamil says, "Ah, I was wondering when you'd show up. Hello, everyone. Have a look around and take in the Scarbia Halloween sights."

Everyone looks around the Mystery Shop.

Azul says, "The Mystery Shop is in shambles."

"It reminds me of Ramshackle Dorm, in a way," Jade adds.

Then Jamil says, "It's not actually ruined, for the record. We've just draped patchwork cloth over the shop to cover it."

Just then, Kalim arrives, "We all worked out the theme as a dorm. It was a blast!"

Jamil then asks, "Are you changed? You didn't forget any costume components, did you?

"Nope! I'm all set," Kalim says. "Scarabia's concept for this year is..."

Kalim arrives dressed in what seems like dark red, black, white, and gold color arabian attire, but he's also wearing black gloves that look kind of sharp. Along with an Arabian necklace and headgear that is made of red silk, and a feather. He also has wolf-like ears on his head.

Kalim grins and says, "Werewolves!"

"No kiddin'?" Jack replies, surprised to see Kalim has wolf ears.

He then smiles and says, "Those are the monsters that wolf-beastmen are said to turn into when they get possessed by the power of the full moon. Back home, they'd tell kids not to stay up too late or they'd turn into werewolves. It's pretty cool seeing you guys put a Scalding Sands spin on Northern folklore."

"Heh heh. It's nice hearing that straight from the wolfman's mouth!" Kalim says with a grin.

Then let out a growl, "RAWR!"

Then asks with confidence, "How's my roar? Pretty impressive, right?"

"Uhhh... That's a tough one..." Jack replies, not sure how to answer.

"There's something heartwarming about how kid-friendly it is," Azul replies.

"Agreed. It's like something you'd hear in a petting zoo," Jade adds.

"OH EM GEE THAT WAS TOTES ADOREBS," Cater says, excited.

Then brings out his phone, "Kalim, do it again! I gotta record this and post it on Magicam for posterity."

"Aw, c'mon! I was going for scary, not cute," Kalim says, feeling disappointed from his efforts.

Then says, "I'll have to practice and work out how to make it sound intimidating."

Then remembers, "Oh, there was something else... " and tries to think, "Uhhh...

Jamil remains silent.

Kalim continues to think, "Uhhhh..."

Then happily says, "Our decor is meant to send a special message."

"And what would that be, pray tell" Azul asks, curiously.

Malleus and Idia are just as curious.

Then Kalim explains, "See, the cloth we used for our decorations is made out of recycled bottles and other plastic trash. We want everyone to be mindful of our limited resources and take a good look at the environment here on Sage's Island. Our hope is to inspire visitors to strive for a society where man and nature happily coexist. That's Scarabia's theme: A sustainable Halloween."

Everyone looked at Kalim a little confused and dumbfounded. Not even sure what to make of the idea.

Kalim smiles and says, "... That's what Jamil told me to say!"

"Yeah, we figured," Azul replies.

"You're undermining your own pitch!" Jamil shouts.

"Doesn't make it any less of a great idea! It's cool AND environmentally friendly.I wanted everyone to know you came up with it, " Kalim says.

"You're missing the point..." Jamil says.

Then Vil says, "Sustainability is currently a buzzword in the fashion industry as well. Incorporating a trending topic into Halloween is a smart move on Jamil's part.

"If I were in the business of grading, I'd give them full marks. This is going to be a huge hit with the public and teachers, guaranteed. Gaining favor with the intended demographic is a clever move on Scarabia's part," Azul says.

"Oh, how inspiring..." Crowley says, in tears and sniffles, "I've never seen such thematic and educational Halloween decorations before! I'm awestruck!"

Then he happily says, "Why, I can only imagine what wonders the next dorm will hold for me. Next up: The coliseum. I expect only the best decorations from Savanaclaw!"
