Chapter 17: The Sorrow and Hatred I Felt

Meanwhile, Ortho is having a discussion with the Magicam Monsters.

Ortho says, "Gosh. So you do know about the Pumpkin Knight. But do you know the deep lore? It's pretty well-known in the fandom, but... They say Creepy Hollow is based on a true story.

"Dude, what?" The two men question.

"No, really," Ortho says.

Then explains, "There was this tossed-out jack-o'-lantern whose ghost possessed a knight. It led to this whole incident where the knight turned a whoooole bunch of humans into pumpkins! The ghost was apparently jealous of some food that they were eating, since the jack-o'-lantern itself wasn't good enough for them. And according to legend, that Pumpkin Knight appeared... right here on Sage's Island! The locals at the time barely managed to defeat him. They buried him beneath this very library. That's why they have the 'No Eating or Drinking' sign posted. The Pumpkin Knight gets very angry when he sees people enjoying a meal."

However, the first man laughs, "Hah hah hah! You actually believe that?! That's honestly adorable."

"A ghost of a jack-o'- lantern turning people into pumpkins?" the second man questions. "That's the corniest thing I've ever heard! Don't worry. We'll be fine."

And with that, the Magicam Monsters are eating and drinking the meal anyway.

"You think so?" Ortho questions.

Suddenly, "...Hey, wait! Did you just hear a noise?"

"Huh?" The first man questions.

Suddenly, they hear strange clanging sounds.

The second man says, "I do hear something odd. It's kind of like... metal clanging against metal."

They soon hear the clanging sound again.

"It sounds like it's getting closer," the first man says.

Followed by a voice, "What do you call a pumpkin that never gets eaten?"

Just then, Idiia appears in his costume, "Why, ME - the tragic monster, Pumpkin Knight!"

The two Magicam Monsters become surprised, "Whoa!"

"What in the world?! Something just jumped out from the shadows. Is that... armor?" The man asks, surprised.

Ortho screams, "AAAH! IT'S THE PUMPKIN KNIGHT!"
"Wait. Dude, really? This is him?" The first man asks.

"Beats me. I've never actually watched the movie, remember?" The second man replies.

Then Ortho says, "Guys, I really think you should stop chit-chatting and get away! Otherwise... the Pumpkin Knight will have his revenge!"

Idia says, "IT'S TOO LAAATE."

Then maniacally laughs, "Gwah ha ha ha ha... You poor, wretched humans. Your lives were forfeit the moment I saw you. You shall experience all the sorrow and hatred I felt as I rotted away!

And right on cue, the torches and candles in the library soon ignite blue fire.

The first man says in shock, "Uh, HELLO? The library's on fire! Isn't that bad?!"

"Why's the fire all pale blue?!" The second man asks, shocked.

In the costume, Idia says, These are the flames of purgatory. I'll turn you both into pumpkin pie and throw you away without eating you! Come to me, dark ivy. Seize the human!"

Soon, the Ivy shows signs of them growing all over the wall.

"Ivy's growing out of the walls and flying at us!" The first man panics.

Soon, one of the vines catches Ortho's ankles.

Ortho panics, "AAAH! Help me! It's wrapping around my ankles!"

Soon, the vines begin to drag him away.

Ortho panics, "I'm being dragged away!"

Soon, the vine pulls Ortho away into the shadows.

"D-dude! The ivy's dragging that kid!" The second man panics.

Both the first man says, "Calm down! This is just a student prank. Someone's trying to scare us. Let's grab him and expose their little ruse."

"What?! You dare to defy the great Pumpkin Knight?! Impudent humans!" Idia shouts in rage.

Just then, the two Magicam Monsters attack the Pumpkin Knight and tackles him to the ground.

The first man says, "Okay, got his arms pinned. Pull him down!"

Gah!" Idia cries out.

The second man grabs his legs and he falls down.

The second man calls out, "Now quick, before he gets up again! Get that helmet off, and let's find out who the culprit REALLY is!"

The first man grabs the pumpkin head, "Okay!"

Then pulls it off, "Got the helmet... off?"

The man looks dumbfounded, "Uh. What?"

The second man is stunned, "H-his head... There's..."

Both men scream in fright, "Nothing there?!"

Suddenly, they hear clanging sounds.

The second man panics, "Th-that clanking... just like we heard when the Pumpkin Knight first showed up..."

"But how?!" The first man panics.

Just then, another Pumpkin Knight appears in the library.

In Idia's voice, he says, "Foolish humans... You are not worthy of being made into vegetation."

Soon, another Pumpkin Knight appears, "Vanish into the pumpkin field fog!"

The second man panics, "M-m-more Pumpkin Knights?!"

Then all three Pumpkin Knights shout from the same voice, "Our grudge will be sated. Give the humans the Halloween punishment!"

Then all the Pumpkin Knights roar, "RAAAGH!"

Both men scream in fright, "GYAAAH!"
