Chapter 5: Prepare to Risk It All

Unable to move, the Magicam Monsters begin to panic. They can't move, they can't even speak, they can't do anything.

The woman says in thought, "My mouth won't move!"

The man asks in thought, "What's going on?!"

Suddenly, they hear footsteps and see the two students running this way.

One of the students looks around and asks, "Where'd they go?"

The woman says in thought, "It's the students who chased us before..."

Then the second student says, "We'd better find 'em soon, or they'll be in trouble. Those tourists don't know anything. What if they fall victim to the curse?"

Hearing that, the woman is frightened in her thoughts, "Wait, the CURSE? What curse?!"

The Magicam Monsters then hear the second student say, "I still can't believe there was actual pirate treasure mixed in with the exhibits."

"Yeah, from the dread phantom pirates that roam the seas even now in their ghost ship," The first student says. "I hear they never forgive those who touch their treasure. They'll hound them endlessly, both in this life and the next..."

Then the second student says, "We've already had several guests disappear after walking into the coliseum. It's got to be the pirates' curse, man."

The Magicam Monsters exclaim in thought, "WHAT?!"

Then the first student says, "We put a sign warning people not to touch stuff. I can't believe they just ignored it."

"The ghost pirates are gonna attack them if we don't find them fast!" The second student says.

Then calls out, "Heeey! Are you guys here?!"

The man says in thought, "We're right here! Argh... I want to answer, but my mouth won't move!"

After searching, the first student says, "Nothin' here. Let's keep searching thataway."

"Right!" The second student says.

The woman wants to cry out, "Waaaait! Don't go! I'm here! Don't you see me?!"

But she isn't unable to move her mouth. Soon, the students leave.

The woman panics, "Oh, no... They've left us."

"Are we going to stay stuck like this forever? That would be so messed up!" The man says in thought.

Soon, they both think, "H... H..."

Then they both scream, "HELP MEEE!"

Soon, they realize that they're able to move their lips.

"Ah! My mouth moved," The woman says, surprised.

Soon, she is able to move her arms and legs, "My arms and legs work, too!"

"What. A. Relief." the man says, relieved, "Did the curse wear off?"

"It must have," The woman replies.

Then says, "Let's get out of the coliseum while the getting's good. I don't wanna go all freeze-frame again."

Meanwhile, Leona and Ruggie are seeing how the plan is being played out.

Ruggie snickers, "Shyeheehee... They were shaking in their boots. Poor saps!"

"Hah. That'd sound a lot more sincere if you didn't have a huge grin plastered across your face," Leona remarks.

Then says, "You and I have set the scene perfectly with our signature spell. Now all that's left is for Jack to give the finishing touch. Let's see what that freshman's got."

Back to the Magicam Monsters, they are trying to find a way out of the coliseum.

The man says, "The exit should be coming up soon."

"That was AWFUL. I wasn't expecting something so freaky to happen," The woman says, still scared.

"For real. At least it makes for a good Halloween story," The man says. "Aw, maaan... I wish I'd had a camera running. Footage of treasure turning into sand would've gone viral on Magicam for sure."

Suddenly, they hear a strange sound.

The woman is the first to notice, "Huh? What's that noise?"

"How should I know? It sounds like something being... dragged," The man says.

Then they hear the noise again, and it sounds louder this time.

Suddenly they hear a voice, "ARRR..."

The man yelps in fright, "GYAH! Wh-wh-who was that?!"

They soon hear the voice again, "Filthy... ROBBERS..."

"Robbers?! What are you talking about?!" The woman calls out, deeply scared.

They soon hear the dragging noise again.

Then they hear the voice, "Ye couldn't even imagine... what we pirates went through... to get our hands on that booty... Sometimes our crewmates sank into stormy seas... Sometimes they went days without food or water and collapsed... But despite all our losses... We never stopped bein' pirates... YOOO... HO... HO..."

Soon, they hear the dragging sound and it's getting closer and closer, causing the Magicam Monsters to grow more frightened.

The man asks, "Is that one of those phantom pirates the other guys were talking about?!"

"I thought we were off the hook!" The woman panics.

Then they hear the voice again, "We were prepared... to risk our lives for that treasure... What about ye?"

Soon, the noise is getting closer.

The woman freaks out, "H-hey, the noise is getting closer!"

"Where is it coming from?!" The man panics.

Then hears the voice, "If ye be willin' to take the treasure we went through so much to collect..."

The dragging becomes closer and soon reveals Jack in his pirate costume.

He shouts, "Then ye must be ready to battle with US!"

The man screams, "AAAH!"

The woman screams, "It's a g-g-ghost!"

As the pirate ghost, Jack says, "There's only one thing that happens to landlubbers who touch OUR treasure. Now ye'll learn what I mean for yourselves!"

The shouts, "YARRR!"
