Chapter 13: Follow My Lead!

The Next day: Halloween Week, Day One

In the Ramshackle Dorm, Briar and the others are decorating the Halloween decorations all over the dorm. They have a ghost hanging in front of the curtains, spooky cloth and cobwebs at the fireplace and the staircase. They also have some jack-o'-lanterns at various places in the lounge. Soon, they have all the decorations set up and their dorm is ready for Halloween.

"There we go," Briar says.

"This room's finally all decorated!" Grim happily says.

"It looks amazing," Sereia says.

"I agree. Very Halloween," Tanzanite says.

Jasper nods his head in reply. Trinket looks at the jack-o-lantern with curious eyes.

Grim looks at one of them as well, "These lamp things made outta pumpkins... What are they called again?"

"They're called jack-o'-lanterns," Briar says.

"Yeah. That," Grim replies, "At first, I thought the whole idea of using food as a light source was kind of nuts. But when I tried makin' one of myself, I had so much fun. I just had to keep going."

He then runs to another pumpkin, "Check it out? That pumpkin came out lookin' just like you see? Mya ha ha!"

However, the picture looks nothing like Briar.

"Really?" Briar replies.

Then Briar shows him her pumpkin, "Well, I made one that looks like you. I even added your ears."

"Yeah. I say you did a great job, but it's nothing compared to the real thing," Grim says.

Briar giggles, "Sure Grim."

And with that, the three ghosts of Ramshackle Dorm enter the room.

Patrick is the first to speak, "Good morning, friends! It's finally time for Halloween Week, huh?"

"Yup! I'm about to join my minions and check up on things around campus," Grim says.

"Stop calling us minions," Jasper angrily says.

"Whatever," Grim says, annoyed.

"I can't wait to see what everyone has come up with for the stamp rally. I really like to do it myself," Sereia says.

"Don't forget to see all the delicious candy," Grim says.

"I'm interested in seeing the display," Tanzanite says.

"Yeah. I heard Savanaclaw is doing a pirate theme, and I heard the display is so cool," Jasper says.

"And I heard that Ortho and Idia theme is based on the movie called Creepy Hollow. I remember watching it a few times on Halloween," Tanzanite says.

"All I remember was you clenching my arm and hiding under your pillow. Remember, you were hiding under my covers in my room and wouldn't leave," Jasper says.

"I like to check out the venue Pomefiore and Heartslabyul dorm came up with," Briar says.

"Well then, let's get this show on the-" Grim says.

But the ghosts stop them, "Not so fast!"

"Myah?! Grim yelps in surprise.

The other comes to a halt.

Patrick snickers, "Hee hee hee..."

Then all the ghosts snicker, "HEEEE hee hee hee hee!" as they show creepy grins on their faces.

That causes the group to have deep concerns.

"Um, what's going on?" Tanzanite asks, worried.

"What's with the creepy grins?" Grim questions.

"Well, you see... we've got presents for all of you!" Patrick says.

"Oh yeah?" Grim says, confused.

"What is it?" Briar asks.

"Hee hee hee..." Albert snickers and says, "Here!"

Everyone yelps in surprise.

Soon, Grim is revealed to be wearing a black witch's hat with a black and purple striped ribbon, and a smaller black ribbon with white polka dots, and a black skull in the center. He is also wearing a purple ribbon decorated with black cobweb patterns around his neck.

Grim becomes surprised, "Oh... Ohhh... OHHHH!" as he looks at his costume.

He then cheers in excitement, "NYA-HAH! It's a Halloween costume tailor-made for yours truly!"

Then turns to the others, "Whaddya think, guys?! Am I cool or what?!"

"Aww! You're the cutest!" Briar happily says.

"What?!" Grim exclaims.

"Sorry Grim, but you just look cute to me," Briar says, and giggles in reply.

"But I have to admit, you got great costumes too," Grim says.

"Look at me! I look awesome!" Jasper says.

Everyone looks to see that Jasper is wearing run down old clothes. He is wearing a brown long sleeve shirt, black pants, black thick shoes, gray jacket, and wears bolts on the side of his neck. He is also wearing green makeup on his face, and has a fake scar on the left side of his forehead. His hair is brushed down and flattened.

"I'm Frankenstien!" Jasper says.

"You look awesome!" Grim says, excited.

"Thanks," Jasper says.

Then turns to Tanzanite, "You look great yourself."

Tanantie is wearing a white lab coat with black gloves, black boots a black belt around his waist. His hair looks very messy, and is wearing goggles over his glasses.

"I'm a mad scientist," Tanzanite says.

"You look kind of like a nerd," Grim says.

"Grim," Briar sternly says.

"Sorry," Grim replies.

Then says, "Still, you and Sereia look great. You're even wearing the same hat as me."

Both of them are indeed wearing the same witch's hat as grim. They are also wearing long and elegant black and purple colored dresses, black slip on shoes and they're holding broom sticks.

"We're witches," Sereia happily says.

"I have to admit, these dresses look very nice," Briar says.

"And they're kind of glitter too," Sereia says.

Just then, a tink and a white cloth floats over that also has eye holes. Everyone suspects who this could be.

"You look very scary, my pretty," Briar says.

"You're the smallest ghost I've seen," Sereia says.

Albert giggles, "Hee hee hee. Now you three look like great mages!"

"We heard from your friends that Ramshackle Dorm was the odd dorm out and didn't make costumes," John says.

"Wait, what friends were these?" Grim asks.

"Oh, you know. The kids from Heartslabyul? With the heart and spade on their faces?" Patrick replies.

"Ace and Deuce?!" Grim asks, surprised.

"Yeah, them!" Patrick says.

Then says, "It'd be kind of sad if you were the only ones on campus not in costumes for Halloween, right?"

"So we threw these together with curtain scraps and other stuff we can find," Albert adds.

"How do you like 'em?" John asks.

"They're great!" Briar says.

"Thank you," Sereia happily says.

Then Albert giggles, "Hee hee hee... Now that you're all dressed up, get out there and enjoy Halloween!"

"We'll take a stroll of our own around campus. Have fun!" Patrick says.

Grim happily says, "Okay, guys. NOW let's get this show on the road! Follow my lead!"

And begins to walk towards the front door as he lets out a, "La-la-laaa..."
