chapter thirty: lotus
Y/N'S P.O.V.
Two months after your issue with Kuroko's syndicate is resolved and Osamu has been laid to rest, you finally begin to move your things out of Osamu's house and back into your old place where you haven't stayed in quite some time.
It feels odd to have moved out of Atsumu's home, but you finally feel better being alone so you wanted to give Atsumu some space. Besides, he never ended up admitting his feelings for you, so you figured you probably just made it all up in your head.
Today, as you're packing up some of your things at Osamu's house, Atsumu arrives. He grabs a few boxes that he'd already packed up quickly the day before and leaves just like that. The two of you only exchanged a few words before he headed out. You try not to pay it much kind. After all, he has been quiet for the past seven or so weeks.
After Atsumu leaves, your friends come over to visit and help you out. Well, all of them minus Kana. They help sort your clothes and all of your things into boxes and load them up into your car. Then, when you get back to your house, you unload your things and sit down to rest on your couch.
"Ah, feels good to sit down," Akako mumbles as she sinks into your living room chair.
"Yeah, for sure," Momoiro comments as she sits on the couch beside you.
"Now what?" Aoi asks.
"We take a nap," you smile.
"Well, it is Friday. We should go out tonight," Akako gasps.
"As long as I can sleep for a bit first, I'm down," Momoiro nods.
"Awesome," Akako giggles, "Then it sounds like a plan!"
Later that evening, you and your friends ride share down to a bar downtown. When you get there, you buy a round of drinks for your friend and enjoy your time together.
As you laugh, you look behind your friends and see Atsumu sitting alone down at the other end. Akako follows my eyes to see where I'm looking and sees him there as well.
"Hey, isn't that-" she begins before Momoiro cuts her off.
"Atsumu? What's he doing here?" she asks you.
"How should I know?" you shrug.
"Well aren't you guys, uh..." Akako questions.
"No," you admit sadly. "After I moved out, nothing happened. I thought maybe he was going to say something but I guess he made the right move. I was dating his brother..."
"Seriously?" Momoiro groans, shaking her head in disappointment. "Guys never get the hint no matter how obvious you make it, do they?"
"Definitely not," Aoi whispers to herself.
"You should go over," Akako adds. "Say hi or something."
"Yeah, I probably should. I'd feel bad leaving without talking to him," you nod. "I'll be right back."
You walk over to Atsumu's side of the bar but just as you're about to sit down, another man steals the spot. "Hey there, princess," he grins, his red eyes burning deep into your soul. He blocks your view of Atsumu, practically wedging himself between the two of you.
"Sorry, my friend's right behind you. Do you think you could-"
The man turns around to look behind him. He then turns to you with a confused expression. "There's nobody sitting there. What are you trying to say? Are you not interested in me?"
"Not in the least," you scoff.
"But-"
"Have a nice night," you interrupt him this time as you carelessly wave to him while walking away.
You walk back towards your friends disappointedly. "Is he avoiding me?" you shrug.
Aoi points towards the exit where you see Atsumu headed. You rush after him and follow him as he turns a corner down the street. When you catch up to him, you see him drunkenly wobbling down the street.
"Hey, Atsumu, you alright?" you ask as you run in front of him to stop him from walking away. "You look as white as a ghost," you then remark as you place your hands on his shoulder. "Let me walk you home."
"I'm fine, Y/N," he mutters as he looks at you with half-closed eyes. "Let me go."
"At least come back to my place," you insist. "It's a closer walk."
He then stares at you silently for a moment. You sigh and wrap your arm under his, supporting him on your walk back to your place. He's a bit heavy, but you don't want to complain. You need to make sure he gets home safely.
When you finally do arrive at your house, you unlock the door and guide Atsumu inside.
"It's been awhile since you were here," you smile to yourself as you close the door behind you. "Watch out for the mess, I didn't really get to unboxing everything yet."
"Mhm," he mutters mindlessly, wandering off to who knows where.
"Hey, wait! Where are you going?" you call out as you rush to his side. "Atsumu, I'm bringing you to bed. You need to lay down and get some rest."
"K," he mumbles plainly as he places his hand in yours like a lost child. You then show him towards your room and pull back the covers. He sits down and you walk off to get him some water. When you get back, you sit down beside him, and he chugs down the whole bottle. "Thanks for that."
"It's no problem," you smile. "Anything for you."
Atsumu lifts his hand to the back of your neck and inches you closer to him. You feel your face heat up as you watch yourself grow ever closer to his.
"Can I admit something to you?" he whispers hotly.
"Of course."
"I kissed you..." he remarks, leaving you confused.
"You mean you want to, right?" you ask for clarification.
"No, I mean, I kissed you once before. You were asleep. I was trying to kiss you on the cheek but you moved and I..."
"So then if we kiss now, it shouldn't be a problem, should it?" you ask as your heart rate kicks up.
"No."
Without another word, your lips meet with his. Your whole body lights up with goosebumps as you finally do what you've only dreamt about for the past three months. But before it goes any deeper, he pulls away.
"I don't want it to be like this," he says with his eyebrows knit together in concentration. "I want to remember it. I don't want it to be like some kind of drunken moment."
You nod in agreement. "That's fine. You're right."
"Will you stay here, though? In bed with me for the night?" he asks.
You smile as you climb over him and get into the bed. "I'm glad you asked."
