chapter thirty one: sunflower

The next morning, just as the sun rises, you're awoken by the sound of your phone ringing. You pick it up and see that Rhodes is calling you.

"Hello?"

"Y/N?!" he replies worriedly. "You need to come down to the laundromat quickly! It's an emergency!"

"Something happened?" you gasp as you throw the covers off of you and swing your legs over the side of the bed. "Rhodes, what happened? What's going on?" Unfortunately for you, Rhodes doesn't answer. Instead, he hangs up the phone. "Well, it can't be that bad if he's gonna give me no information and then hang up. Seriously, what a douche," you grumble as you stand up and turn around to fix the sheets. Atsumu is still laying in bed and you don't want to wake him up.

Before you leave the house, you write Atsumu a letter letting him know you'll be back home as soon as possible. You then run out and rush down to the laundromat. When you get there, you see two police cars stationed just outside.

You slam your car door shut and lock it as you run inside. In the office, you see Rhodes with his face completely pale. "What's going-" you begin to ask him before you're rudely cut off by one of the officers.

"Ms. L/N?" they both ask at the same time. "You're the owner of this establishment, yes?"

"Yes, for about six months now," you nod. "Is there something I can help you gentlemen with?"

"An explanation would be a good start," one of them scoffs.

"About?" you hum, looking for a better explanation.

Wordlessly, they walk over to an old poster that had been up before Daisho had given you the place. They harshly tear it down, revealing a whole wall stacked with gold on the other side. Your mouth drops to the ground in absolute shock. If you had known that was there, you could've solved your issues with Kuroko's syndicate in mere hours!

"Seriously?!" you gasp. "Rhodes, did you-" you begin to ask until he shakes his head no.

The policemen then cross the office and show you the white wooden door you and Rhodes have never even opened. Daisho never gave you the key to it.

"Ms. L/N, we'll ask you nicely to open this door for us," one of them begins.

"Or else we'll have to break it down ourselves."

"I'm sorry, but I can't help you. I've never even opened it myself," you shrug. "The previous owner didn't give me the key."

The two of them look at each other and sigh. They then take a step back from the door and shake their heads. One of them turns to the side and slams his boys into the door. The wood then collapses as he forces his way through.

"Hold on a minute, do either of you have a warrant to do this?" you ask them.

"Don't need it," the one who burst through the door tells you as he dusts himself off. "Your manager here gave us permission."

"You did what?!" you gasp.

"I didn't know! He came in here asking me if he liked his outfit. He was flirting and I thought it was a costume or something! I only gave him permission because I didn't think it was serious but then mister gay in the streets straight in the sheets brought his partner in and I was screwed... and not in the way I was thinking it would happen," he grumbles.

It's then that you notice Rhodes' hands are tied in cuffs behind him. "There's got to be some kind of misunderstanding," you say to the officers. "He only works for me, he's done nothing wrong."

"Nothing, huh?" one of the officers smirks as he eyes up Rhodes. "YOu know your little employee here is a male prostitute when he locks up for the night, right? That's why he was so quick to hop on my cock."

"Okay, what happened to being professional?" you reply. His language gave way too many details than what you needed to know.

"Why don't you ask Mr. Casanova that?" the officer laughs with his partner.

"What he does outside the building has nothing to do with why you're taking my laundromat apart and keeping our business from running," you insist.

"Alright, love, pull your panties out your ass," the quieter cop scoffs. "We'll let your rent-boy go for a price."

"Like what?" you ask. "We're in a goddamn laundromat."

"Don't think we don't know who you are," they chuckle. "Sweetheart, you may look innocent and all but we all know that's not the case."

"Heard you got quite the little incestual kink," the other smirks. "Those Miya boys got you hooked, don't they."

"Oh fuck off. Don't you dare talk about either of them!" you reply defensively, only causing them to laugh harder.

"Alright, alright, we've had our fun. We'll just take everything behind your pinup and be on our way," they smirk.

You watch helplessly as they begin to bag all of the gold into their cop car for 'evidence' as they put it. Finally, they keep their promise and leave you alone.

"What was that all about?" you ask Rhodes.

"I'm pretty sure I know," he sighs. You look at him curiously, waiting for him to explain himself. "Come on, I'll show ya."

You and Rhodes step through the broken door that the police officer busted down. On the other side is a rundown strip club that looks like it hasn't been used in awhile.

"Holy shit," you whisper as your jaw drops to the floor. "I'm calling Daisho."

When Daisho gets there, you show him the passage into the strip club. "Yeah, that was mine," he nods. "I'm surprised Rhodes didn't tell you about this place earlier. He used to work for me, you know."

"He did?" you reply as you look over at Rhodes. "You did?"

"What can I say," Rhodes shrugs. "I'm a good employee."

You roll your eyes as you look back to Daisho. "So explain to me what I'm looking at."

"When we worked for your dad, Nohebi's prime focus was on prostitution. But you already knew that," he begins.

"Of course," you nod, completely lying your ass off.

"Seriously?!" he grumbles, seeing right through you. "I'm so glad you banished me from ever seeing your face again."

"Are you gonna help or not?" you then ask.

"I don't know. I don't really have to, do I?"

"You heard what happened to Oikawa," you reply, placing your hands on your hips.

Daisho smirks and nods slightly.

"Whatever," you sigh. "Can you explain the gold behind the poster at least?"

"Gold?" he repeats. "I didn't know about that. Show me."

You shake your head as you walk over to your desk and open the drawer with the only brick of gold that the cops had left behind, accidentally dropping it out of their bags. "Hm, thanks," he says as he holds it up to you. "Well, I'll let you know if I find anything else out, but that's all I know. I'll just take this and be on my way."

You curse Daisho out as he walks away humming a small tune. You then turn to Rhodes and let out a sigh. "Go home," you tell him. "I'm closing the shop for the day. We're finished for today."

"Alright," he nods, "have a good night, Y/N."

"Yeah, you too."

After he leaves, you step back through the door into the strip club. Almost immediately, a gloved hand is wrapped around your mouth and you're pulled back through the laundromat. In the reflection of one of the washers, you see a blue uniform that tugs you along.
