It was in the early hours of the morning that Harry was caught trying to find Draco in the hospital. He really underestimated how hard it would be to sneak in.

Luckily, the person who found him happened to be his friend.

"Harry?"

"Joseph?" He'd never been more grateful to have attempted suicide at the start of year eleven. "Heyyyyy."

"What are you doing here?" Joseph asked. "So early in the morning as well."

Harry bit his lip nervously. "I, er, have to visit someone."

"I see. Do you know where you're going?"

nah i was kinda hoping id get lucky and find draco on a lucky guess

"No idea."

Joseph had seemed to figure out why Harry was so nervous. "Does the person know you're here?"

The brunet shook his head.

"I'm not sure if I can let you visit then."

"No, wait, hear me out." Harry blurted out to stop the nurse from walking away. He realised immediately that he had no idea how to explain.

"I'm listening."

just tell the truth.

"I don't know why he's here, but I think it might be my fault. He told me he fell for me, and I didn't reply, out of shock. I just needed a moment to process things. The moment I did, he'd already gone."

"A love confession?" Joseph smiled. "Boy, you reply to those immediately. Tell me the name of this boy and I'll find what room he's in. But you didn't find out from me, alright?"

Harry grinned and told him the name, to which he grinned at too.

"Oh, I can totally see you two together. He actually requested I find his phone yesterday, which is probably how you found him, right?"

He nodded.

"Ah, I'm your cupid."

"Indeed you are."

"Tell me, Harry, it's been a while since I've seen you. Nearly a year. How's it been? Let's walk and talk, shall we."

And so they did, and Harry thought it felt nice talking to someone who knew nothing much about him.

Maybe this is why people get therapists.

"I've been better, much better."

Harry hadn't met up with Joseph, as the nurse offered, but they did text every now and then. It was mostly just checking up on each other, but at some point Harry admitted to struggling with eating.

Joseph wasn't surprised.

"I've recovered, I think."

"I'm so proud of you, Harry."

Those words almost had Harry in pieces. His daddy issues were screaming, crying, perfect storms. And suddenly he missed Draco all over again, because the blond was the first person to say that phrase to him.

"Thank you. How have you been?"

Joseph flashed his hand in Harry's face, to which the younger boy screeched.

"He proposed?!"

"He did. God, it was romantic as fuck." He stopped quickly. "Sorry, bad language."

"I'm sixteen, not six."

"And I'm twenty-four. I'm supposed to be a role model."

"Role model for what? Skittles?"

The two burst out laughing at that. Harry felt at peace in the hospital, despite having awful memories there.

it's the people that make places better or worse

joseph makes it better here

"Here we are." The nurse grinned. "Text me everything, or come find me. I want to know it all."

Harry laughed and nodded as the slightly older man walked away. It dawned on him that he hadn't a clue on what he was to say.

oh, hey draco. i stalked u to come here to say ive fallen for u too. i know i might be the reason you're here, but let's move on. date me, blondie.

"Fuck it."

The brunet barged into the blond's room. "I like you too."

Draco was still staring at a plate of food, which he ended up dropping in shock. "Potter, what the actual fuck?"

"Shit, sorry." Harry rushed to his side to help pick up the food and the plate.

"Stop." Draco said sharply. "I'm not crippled or anything. I can handle myself."

Harry chewed on his lip. "Are you mad at me?"

No, Harry. I'm mad at myself for not being able to eat a simple hospital meal. I stared at it for an hour. An hour. And yesterday's meal got thrown out the window.

Why am I like this?

"No, I'm not."

"Are you okay?"

Lie.

"No, I'm not."

Harry sat at the foot of the hospital bed, signalling that he was there to say and to listen. That simple gesture meant everything to Draco, and it felt like the hunger came back instantly.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

Those six words were vague, very vague, but Harry knew what he meant anyway. The food was a dead giveaway, but when Draco felt like shit, he went back to one thing. Harry knew what that thing was.

"It's okay. I'm still proud of you regardless."

"I meant everything I said, you know." Draco said simply. "I do like you, like a lot, like, like like. And if you don't feel the same, that's okay."

"Of course I feel the same way, you absolute nutter." Harry laughed. "I just needed a moment to process what you said. You know I'm slow as shit, you shouldn't have run."

"I'm sorry. I was just afraid, you know?"

"That's okay. So was I." He reached for the blond's hand, and rubbed the boy's knuckles with his thumb. "I was terrified to come here in case your confession was some sick prank. But I put you first. I'll always put you first."

"And I you." Draco smiled. "Wanna tick off getting a boyfriend on our bucket list?"

"Is this your way of asking me out?"

"Would you rather I sing you a song and throw rose petals at your face with doves flying behind me?"

Harry held his chest and gasped dramatically. "Yes."

"I wanna be yours. There. Be mine, and I'll be yours."

"Such a romantic."

"If you don't reply properly I take it all back."

"I wanna be yours. I am yours."

Draco almost melted on the spot. He was so fucking into Harry James Potter, and he didn't need to pretend he wasn't anymore.

Because he felt the same.

"Want me to stay with you whilst you eat?"

"Yes please."

"I'm always here for you Draco. Don't suffer alone, please?"

"Fine, we can suffer together."

"I wouldn't want it any other way."

together.
