Yon had a sip of her drink and paused as if she wanted to ask me something. The young immortal had changed during my time away. She was more confident. She had her hair short now, was wearing some make-up and baggy jeans that suited her very well.

"Do you think we could plan a training session? I don't want to bother you. But I would be so glad to learn from you," she said. "I've been training with Anna and the guys the last few years, but you know, it would be great to have your perspective."

It was actually a good idea. I was looking for something to ground me and this could be part of the process. "Of course. And this way, I may be able to tell you a few more stories. Pick up where we left off."

She had a big smile on her face. "It'd be wonderful."

"That is a deal then."

We were talking about what she wanted to focus on during her training, when I felt the presence of a vampire entering the room. It was a beautiful woman with long curly hair, dark as ink. She walked directly towards Aidan, and they talked. They obviously knew each other.

"Who is the vampire Aidan is talking with?" I asked Yon.

"I don't know. I've never seen her."

James, who had also felt the vampire presence, looked at them and answered my question: "It's one of Stanislas'. I think her name is Nawel."

"Stanislas?" I asked. "As in Aidan's sire?"

"Yes. He didn't tell you? He's in town."

I paused. He had not mentioned this piece of information at all. "I have not heard much about him. Is he good or bad news?"

"Well, think bad, but worse."

"I see."

Nawel gave an object to Aidan. He turned his head towards me and saw that I was watching him. He left the vampire where she was and came to talk to me. "I have to go," he said.

"What is going on?"

"Don't worry about it. You have enough on your plate right now to deal with vampire stuff."

"My love, if there is a problem, you can tell me."

"I know I can. But everything's fine. I'll explain later. I promise."

"Alright. But be careful."

He kissed my hand and went back to Nawel before they left the club together. On her way out, the female vampire looked at me for a second and her face showed no expression.
