"Cheque", Don Diablo

Exactly one week before the wedding, on Saturday night, we decided to have our own version of a double bachelor party. Mostly, the idea was to have a night out, just the four of us, Amaury and James, Aidan and me.

It was a two-part schedule with completely different vibes. First, we had a table at a very select jazz club where we dressed elegantly and savored good food and even better music. It was cozy and heartwarming.

But after midnight, we went to the most exclusive nightclub in the city. We changed to dress up as if going to the MTV Video Music Awards... but in the 90s. And we walked in as if we owned the place. It was fun to play, and I knew that the two lovebirds would enjoy the show.

We mastered the dancefloor, for sure, as practically everyone was looking at us. We used to avoid attracting attention except at The Pearl, but this night was something else entirely. It was a strange mix of impressive displays of dancing skills and completely silly choreographies, depending on the song. James did not surprise me with his legendary capacity to be the center of attention, but I have to say that Amaury was quite impressive too and even Aidan played along, which was highly unexpected.

In our VIP area, we chit-chatted in-between two songs, enjoying a glass - well, several glasses - of a very rare whiskey. My two vampires and my immortal best friend looked happier than I had seen them in ages. They were joking and smiling as if they did not have a care in the world and it warmed my heart.

"So now that Queen Elise here has eliminated the competition and regained the mastership of the city, we can finally concentrate on what's important: me. I mean, us," James said with a smirk, brushing a finger on Amaury's cheek.

The immortal rolled his eyes but with a tender smile.

"I loved it when you said: 'This ends now', almost in a growl. It was priceless," Aidan said to me.

"I know, right? It was absurd. Stan-the-man there has a talent to bring out my douchey side."

"You have a douchey side?" Amaury laughed.

"Well, clearly. And I think we can all pull out this side of us pretty well. Look at us right now. James has sunglasses in a nightclub and a gigantic faux-fur coat. You look like his pimp. Aidan has the tightest shirt I have ever seen him wear. It looks like it could explode at any given moment. And is it hair product?" I said while Aidan looked at me as if offended. "And with all the vinyl I am wearing, I could be Trinity's cousin, the one from the trashier side of the family."

"Exactly. That party is a complete success," James said with a giant smile. Then pointing at the man who was supposed to entertain us on a small private stage: "I think I'm going to switch place with the pole dancer."

"You do you, sweetie. This is your night," I said, glancing at Amaury who seemed clearly interested in James' new idea. Then Aidan looked at me, laughing and rolling his eyes at the same time.
