"I THOUGHT WE WERE HERE TO TALK PEACE?" Scott murmured lowly as he arrived in the tunnels, coming face to face with Monroe who was accompanied by the three armed men.

"I agreed to come." Monroe replied, "I never agreed on peace."

"Well, if you brought them, I guess the others are here, too." Scott alluded, referring to Gerard, Johnathon— and River, though he was a whole other story. "Aren't they?"

"Right here, Scott." Gerard announced with an amused tone, Johnathon following closely behind, and River appeared trying very hard to mask his sheepishness.

"Whatever they've told you, there's another side to the story." Scott said, looking at Monroe.

"Isn't there always?" Monroe cocked a brow.

"What were you hoping for here, Scott?" Johnathon chuckled a bit.

"I was hoping to talk to someone reasonable." Scott sighed, shooting the man a glare as he turned back to Monroe, "Trust me, they're not the kind of people that you want to follow. They're gonna lead you off a cliff."

"Following us?" Gerard replied, "No one here is following me, Scott. I'm merely an adviser."

"This is because of you?" Scott seemed surprised at the revelation, seeing the look on Monroe's face.

"That's right." Monroe smirked, "You're negotiating with me, Scott."

"Okay." Scott sighed again, "Tell me how to settle this. What do you want?"

Monroe  looked the boy up and down, "I want to see a Werewolf beg for peace."

"Fine." Scott immediately accepted, nodding his head, "Okay. I'll beg. I'll-I'll do whatever you want. Just tell me that we don't have to kill each other. That we can find a way to make peace."

Monroe's lips pursed, unimpressed. "That wasn't quite what I was hoping for..."

"People are dying."

"They've been dying." Monroe shot back, "You only care now because it's your people."

"You have to want something other than seeing us all dead." Scott pleaded desperately, "What if we leave Beacon Hills? All of us?"

"If you leave, we'll follow you." the woman shrugged, "We'll hunt you down until every single one of you is gone."

From behind his father, River's eyes began to bug nervously, glancing at his father, his grandfather, and Monroe. He'd done the whole duplicity thing before, but the stakes seemed higher for him now that it was his life on the line.
