I didn't stop her from crying, not did I say anything, I jsut held her close to me. Her face was in my neck and she was crying for a long time, for an hour or more.
"Shhh shh it's okay, you aren't back there you are right here with me, you are safe princess" I whispered caressing her back
She shook her head in my neck, I took a few deep breaths and picked her up a little and let her sit in my lap, so she had her legs on either side and was straddling my lap.
I caressed her back as gently as I could, she was still crying in my neck and I couldn't watch her crying so much, at first I knew she needs to let go by crying but it had been hours now.
"Nandini shh shh you are safe" I said and she shook her head again
"Look at me princess please" I whispered and she slowly pulled her face out of my neck
"I am sorry that you had to go through that princess, I wish I could have met you before and protected you but I cannot change the past. However I can promise you that I will always protect you" I said wiping her tears
"They ruined me manik, they took my everything" her voice was barely audible but I knew exactly what she said
"They did not nandini, you have everything right now"

She tried getting off me but I held onto her waist getting her to sit again

"It's okay, im right here, you are okay, shh" I whispered caressing her back and she slowly laid her head on my chest

I didn't know how to convince her that she is not wrong

"Nandini actions should never be perceived as wanting to do it, if you haven't said yes then it's a no. There was no reason that you gave him that caused him to do the, do you understand me" I asked and she nodded
"I understand" she mumbled very very quietly
"I am very proud of you and I'm very happy that you ran away, you got here and look at you now, you are studying in one of the best university, you have a job, you have a family. You are so strong princess" I kissed the top of her head
"Im scared" she said
"Why"
"What if they find me, what if my cousin finds out where I am"
"Then let them, im right here, they won't ever be able to get to you I promise you. You are dafe with me nandini, I will keep you safe forever"
She titled her head a little looking at me, her hands left my t shirt and she lifted it up to my face caressing my face a little.
i could tell there was a lot going on in her head but she wasn't on guard, her body was relaxed in my arms, she wasn't stiff and ready to guard herself because she knew I was right there to protect her
I trust you Manik and I know you will protect me" she whispered
"No more crying, you don't look good when you cry" I said wiping her face
"You are the reason I smile"
