Maybe it all could have happened but feelings were kept hidden. Once they were revealed it may have been a little to late.

I could not help but nervously pace around my room occasionally stopping by the window. The Christmas Dinner was today and to say the least, my mom might have gone a little overboard.
The Christmas tree downstairs was filled with presents and stockings were everywhere. She along with the house elves were making sure the food and dinner table were ready for when everyone arrived.
She rushed me over to sit on the chair in front of the vanity. I felt as she yanked my hair brushing it and spraying it down at the same time. Kate grabbed two pieces of hair pining each on opposite sides and continuing this process halfway through my head. More carefully than with the brush she curled the ends of my hair.

She proceeded to do my makeup rather quickly before shoving me into the bathroom to put on the sapphire blue nicely fitted dress that came with accompanying black gloves. Kate was right, my mother did know what she was doing when picking dresses for us. I decided to pair my dark dress with a black neck choker and a golden necklace.

"You look very pretty, Addy. I would say almost as pretty as me." Kate praised. I lightly shoved her onto my bed. I extended my hand to help her up but instead, she pulled me with her.
"Adeline, Kate. They are here." My mom sang from downstairs. We both quickly straightened down our dresses and fixed our hair. We glided down towards the bottom floor standing by the entrance with my mum as my father opened the door.
"Ethan it has been a while." I heard James' father say as he shook my dad's hand before letting them in.
"It has. Good to see you too Fleamont." my father replied as my mum greeted Euphemia before looking back at me.
I looked over to see James nicely dressed with a bright smile. He came over to hug me which I reciprocated then pecked him on the cheek. My father soon led us all to the dining table.
We sat across Kate and Sirius who could not seem to keep their hands off each other James stepped on Sirius' foot signaling for him to stop. I noticed how Remus still had not shown up along with Peter. I made sure my father was distracted to ask James where they were.
