"Are you sure they went this way?" I gasped as I tried to keep up with Kate.

"Not fully but I am determined to find out what Sirius is hiding from me." She muttered with determination. "Plus we should be fine. They would never hide something too dangerous." If you only knew I thought.

I had tried my best to persuade her out of this idea but it was like persuading Alexander to leave Marlene alone basically...impossible. We were currently in the forbidden forest trying not to die as she thought going through here would prevent us from getting caught.

I just wish I had brought another sweater with me as it was still winter and my fingers felt like they could fall off any minute. Now my only role was to make sure she did not find out the secret, at least not this way. As we neared one end of the forest we came into view of the whomping willow. As I expected it was frozen in place.

"I think they went in there." Kate pointed a little too eagerly. "Come on let's go." she added taking my hand but I stayed put.

"Kate we should not be here. There must be a reason Sirius has not told you. Don't you think you should respect that?" I whispered. I watched as her face filled with doubt.

"I should, your right...but if it's something big I do not want him to continue hiding it from me." she confessed. "But this is not how I want to find out."

"Come on let's go back inside befo-" I was suddenly cut off by a loud howl from within the forest.

"W-W-Was that a werewolf?" Kate trembled in fear.

"We have to run as fast as we can. Do not stop at any moment." I explained in a low whisper before pushing her to run ahead. The howl was getting closer and closer I knew that there would be no chance of us both making it out. "Kate run and do not turn back until you are inside." I screamed.

"Adeline don't you dare. I know exactly what you are thinking and it is not going to happen. If anyone should stay back it is me. This was all my idea." Kate insisted with a worried tone.

"I have a plan please just listen to me it is my turn to say what to do. Now keep going."

"Adeline I swear if you leave I gonna kill you." Kate yelled but by that time I only heard a faint sound as I had begun to run in a different direction.

I stopped to listen to the sound before realizing the werewolf was still after her. I did the only thing I could think of and used my wand to amplify a series of howls. I began to run again as I thought of what animal would be the most useful when I no longer heard anything causing me to come to a sudden halt.

As I stood there I gazed around me looking for a way out when I realized I did not know what way to go. Just then I heard a twig snap from behind me followed by a low growl. I knew exactly what was behind me. I slowly turned around only to have it be a few feet away from me. I felt a giant lump in my throat as I tried to make a sound but was unable to.

As I slowly backed away I held eye contact with the creature. I thought of my options which were little to none. I had finally came up with the best choice of animal when a large black dog with a small rat on its back appeared refocusing the werewolf's attention only to get flung into the stag that just appeared.

Without warning I was flung into the air and landed with a loud thud, I struggled to get up. I slowly sat up my vision blurred, my head pounding, and with the taste of blood. Before I could even stand up I managed to see the werewolf running towards me I shut my eyes and used my arms to cover my face.

So this was my end. Killed by a werewolf friend in the scariest place at Hogwarts. My father is going to kill me.

When I felt that nothing happened I opened my eyes to see a stag standing in front of me bracing itself for the coming werewolf. As the werewolf's arm began to reach out to attack the black dog took it down causing it to whimper aloud in pain as it began to look at what was happening for a second a look of sadness overtook his face before it was chased away by the dog that carried the small rat on its back. The stag turned its attention to me before de-transforming to reveal a worried-looking James.
