Chapter Thirty-One

October 25th 2022 - Cannes, France - Hotel Martinez

Ashley, Blue and I were sharing a suite and Lizzie had her own suite with Aubrey. Blue was in the bedroom steaming our outfits, she had been in there for over an hour now. Ashley said she probably wanted some alone time after the flight, the second half of the flight was less than perfect... We had turbulence, and the landing was bumpy. She tried to seem okay for Lizzie's sake but her hands that fiddled with her long hair behind her back were quivering and she randomly sucked in a deep breath almost like she had forgotten to breathe.

"That was nice of you by the way," Ashley tells me as she takes a seat on the sofa. She had brought a bowl of fruit with her and sat it between us so we could share. "What?" I was confused. I haven't moved since we got here, literally came straight into the suite and sat on the sofa and haven't moved since, my cases are still sitting by the door waiting for me to take them through to the bedroom. "Booking a double pod for you and Blue... It was sweet." I shrugged. "It wasn't a big deal. She doesn't like flying and first class seats make it hard to comfort someone," I explained myself to her. "Yeah but... It was thoughtful." "I'm a thoughtful person." She rolled her eyes. "I am!" I defended myself. "MK your brain is the most chaotic place on earth, there's no space in there for you to be thoughtful." "Okay. That was rude," I pointed out being offended by her joke. I wasn't completely self centred. But you're jealous of your baby sister for making friends. "Sorry, I was just joking," She says, rubbing my arm.

"I'm gonna go see if she needs a hand," She says, excusing herself. "She will refuse it," I called to her as she left the room to find Blue. Blue doesn't like help. Well she doesn't like help with simple tasks such as steaming. And Ashley is more than likely correct about her needing some space. My phone beeped and I picked it up, it was the group chat Cat nap where we all uploaded Blue's napping pictures too. The girl sleeps in some random positions. This time she was asleep by the steamer, curled up in a tiny ball like a cat. "She's sleeping!" Ashley calls a little too loudly as she reentered the room. "I saw," I say waving my phone around. "She's a cutie," She gushes sitting back down beside me.

"Morning, Beauty," Ash smiled as Blue entered the lounge. She had a lazy smile pasted on her lips and her eyes were still half closed as she was still waking up. "Hey," She said sitting on the love seat tucking her legs to her butt. "You hungry? Lizzie wants to grab dinner." She shakes her head. "You sure?" I asked again because she hasn't eaten, she didn't want to eat on the plane and she's been sleeping since we arrived. "I'm too tired to move," She said as she dramatically threw her head back. "You're a child." She shrugged. "Tell me something I don't know," She said sarcastically, causing us to laugh a little.

"Just come as you are... We're going in these," Ashley told her. "Or I could order a burger with a side of fries right from this spot and have it brought to me." "Now that sounds like a good option," I say my mind drifting off to a cheese burger with curly fries. "Lizzie wants us to go to dinner." "Lizzie doesn't know what she wants." I say dismissing Ashley going back to my food day dream. She smacked my arm in response. "Ow!" I complained and she held a smug smile. I rolled my eyes.

"Told you burger and fries were a good option," Blue said sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table holding a burger that was roughly the size of her head. Lizzie was sitting opposite her and Ashley and I were on the sofa. Blue sold Lizzie on the idea of ordering room service. All she had to say was she didn't have to interact with humans if we stayed home. And with the busy weekend she had ahead of her it was enough for her to agree to stay in for the evening. She had press early in the morning so she was going to head to bed early.
