Chapter 5 - A Nightmare Dressed Like A Daydream

Simula nang matikman ko ang iced black coffee doon sa café na huli kong napuntahan ay hindi na ako dumidiretso ng office ng wala iyon.

"Good morning Ma'am Michy.." Nakangiting bati ni Maia. I really like her. Siya na ata ang may pinakamagandang ngiti na nakita ko.

"Morning Maia." Walang reaksyong bati ko.

"Bad morning nanaman po?" Natatawang tanong nito.

"As always. Same order." Sagot ko saka ako umupo sa stool chair sa may bar counter.

Nasa kalagitnaan ako ng pagmamasid nang biglang mahagip ng mga mata ko ang isang bulto na minsan ay nakilala ko na. Mister Drexel Ortega.

I opened the door and saw a man sitting on one of the swivel chair. His back was on me pero nang marinig niya ang pagbukas ng pinto ay lumingon ito. He stood up.

"Hi. I assume you're Ms. Cavalier?" He asked as he extended his hand for a shake. He had such a nice voice. Big and deep, too masculine. He has this confidence in the way he stood; the seriousness in his face added to his appeal, and didn't even ruined his good looks.

"Call me Michy. So, how should I call you Mr. Ortega?" I said as I took his hand.

"Drexel would be fine as well," he said matter of factly. His serious look says he's here for business and business alone. I motioned for him to sit down again and took a seat myself. Pagka-upong pagka-upo ko we immediately get down to business, not even wasting a minute for plesantries.

Tumagal nang halos isang oras ang usapan namin before we arrived to an agreement. To seal the deal we stood up and shook our hands again pero ang hindi ko inaasahan ay ang pagngiti niya sakin.

"Nice doing business wih you Michy," he said with a smile. Napakaseryoso ng mukha nito kaya hindi ako aware na kaya niya palang magproduce nang ganyang ngiti. Fuck!

Nice smile.

"Same here," I smiled too. A little flirty.

Mukhang nagulat din ito sa pagngiti ko kasi hindi rin ito nakapagreact agad. That's good to see. At least I haven't lost my edge in flirting. Napangisi ako sa loob loob ko.

Fuck Matt, pagsisihan mo to. You just let go of the best woman there is in the world.

"I'll send the contract to you once everything is in order."

Drexel cleared his throat. "Yeah thank you." He thanked, serious mode turned on again.

Nauna na na siyang pumunta sa pinto at binuksan iyon para makalabas na rin ako. We went to the elevator, he was going down and I was going back up to my office.

"Again, it was nice doing business with you. Pasensya na for saying no to lunch, but if you offer that to me again sometimes baka hindi na ko busy," I told him. For formality he offered to take me out for lunch kanina pero tumanggi ako dahil kailangan ko pang pumili ng magiging secretary ko.

"Let see," he said. The lack of commitment in voice kinda disappointed me. Oh well I don't care much anyway.

I nodded and went inside.

"Bye."

He nodded.

"Here you go Ma'am Michy. Smile naman po kayo, sayang ganda niyo. Actually, huwag na pala, maganda naman talaga kayo." Pukaw ni Maia sa akin. Napailing ako at bahagyang napangiti. "Ayon oh, nag-smile. Have a nice day!" Tinanguan ko ito saka ako naglakad palabas ng café. Nang hanapin ng mga mata ko si Mr. Ortega bago ako tuluyang lumabas ay bigla nalang naglaho ito na parang bula. Oh well.
