Distance,
The year was 2005, two newlyweds were moving into the home located in Phoenix, Arizona. They were expecting their first kid, a girl! They were ecstatic, excited for the decorations they were about to hang in the room. "I think we're good, for tonight. We can fully unpack tomorrow!" The husband smiled, holding his wife's stomach as he kissed her forehead, grabbing her hand and leading her to lay on the bed to sleep.
2 years later...
It was now 2007, those newlyweds were now married for a good 3 years, already having 2 kids to take care of; both beautiful girls. Veronica and Isabella. They were both beautiful babies. "Oh, honey! I think there's neighbors moving in next door... look!" The wife exclaimed, pointing out their window with a big smile. "They have a little boy..." The husband chuckled, wrapping his arm around his wife, turning around to look at Isabella, who sat on the floor, playing with her legos.
"We should go introduce ourselves." The wife looked up at her husband, grinning widely. "Alright." The husband agreed, walking over to check on Veronica who sat on the couch, eating her grapes. "You guys want to go meet some new people?" Their father smiled, looking down at them, chuckling at their in-sync stares.
__________
That meet, was their first, definitely not their last. They spent every Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring break together, all hanging out with the many Neighbourhood friends they had. The other kids were pretty much the same ages, the oldest would be Kourtney and Veronica, both 2 years older, but still down to hang with the younger kids.
Miguel and Isabella were never truly close, but they did enjoy each other's company. They'd finally started to grow closer one year, but that sort of went away on that one day. "Isa!" Miguel shouted, running up to the young girl who looked up at him, her eyes squinting at the bright sun. Her hair was messy, the original braids were falling out from running around all day. "What?" She questioned, curiosity showing in her face, a huge grin there, too.
"Y'know how I auditioned for... that one kid, Robin Arellano?" Miguel asked, looking at the girl who was trying to remember. "Oh, yeah!" She nodded quickly with a smile. "I got the part!" He exclaimed, watching Isabella's reaction, her eyes widened, her mouth falling agape. She was surprised— Shocked.
"Holy shit!" She exclaimed, Miguel laughed at her. "When do you have to leave, and where are you going?" Isabella filled up with questions begging to pour out. "Uhm... I'm leaving in 3 months... and... North Carolina." He whispered the last part, fully realizing when and where he was leaving to.
"Woah... so you're going to be very far away..." Isabella's smile faltered in a way, she was happy for the boy, excited for him, but he was one of her few best friends, who would she swim with... who would she binge watch her favorite movies with? "Yeah... my mom said we're going to move there for a year, so it'd be easier on all of us." He mumbled.
"When are you moving?" Isabella asked, feeling a frown overcome her face. "Next month." Miguel was now frowning too, he was leaving his only best friend. "Oh." Isabella nodded slowly. "I'll miss you." Isabella spoke honestly, Miguel looked down at her with sort of wide eyes, "I'll miss you too."
