Distance,
"I just saw Miguel." Isabella let out an exasperated sigh as she sat back in her seat, looking out the window with wide eyes, waiting for her sister to respond. Her sister choked on her lemonade, turning the car back off. "What?" She exclaimed, turning over to her sister. "Like... our neighbor, Miguel?" Isabella nodded at her sister's question. "Holy shit... Mom and Dad are going to be so happy they're back." Veronica grinned as she looked at her sister, an exasperated sigh leaving her.
"Do you think they moved in next to us, again?" Veronica asked her younger sister, starting the car again, backing out of the park space, starting their drive back home. "Definitely not, that's not possible... getting the same house a year later? Impossible."
_________
"They're back... they moved back in next to us!" Isabella's mother exclaimed, clasping her hands together with a huge smile. "Oh... I'm going to Bella's tonight... remember?" Isabella asked, waiting for her mother to recall the memory. "Yes, I remember, Mija... please text me when you get there... and when I should pick you up tomorrow." Her mother said, walking over to give Isabella a kiss on the cheek.
"I will... love you mom." Isabella mumbled, walking up the stairs to quickly pack, before running down the stairs and waving at her dad before leaving the house. Arabella lived 15 minutes away, it was a 3 minute drive, but Isabella didn't mind walking. Isabella swung the backpack strap over her shoulder, walking on the sidewalk, looking over to the house next to hers... Miguel's house.
Isabella turned to the other way, continuing to walk towards Arabella's house.
________
"That's crazy... I remember you used to have that tiny crush on him—" Luna was cut off by Isabella throwing a pillow at her to shush her next words. "Shut up." Isabella mumbled, looking over to Luna. "Whatever... you're just too scared to admit you liked him." Arabella teased, Isabella rolling her eyes in response. "Wait... what character did he audition for?" Luna asked, looking down at her phone with a confused look.
"Some kid... Robin... Arellano?" Isabella questioned her own words, still unsure, "Damn... your man's in this movie called... The Black Phone, there's some other fine characters." Luna giggled, scrolling through her phone. "The Black Phone? What kind of name is that?" Arabella chuckled, grabbing Luna's phone to look at it.
"Damn... Lu's right, they're fine." Arabella giggled along with Luna, nudging her friends shoulder playfully. "Guys... shut up, lemme see." Isabella sighed, grabbing the phone and scrolling through the Instagram account. "How different does Miguel look? I haven't seen him for like... 2 years." Luna tried to recall that last memory she had of the boy.
"Actually it's only been 1 year, but he looks pretty much the same... a little... more mature, if that makes sense?" Isabella questioned, laughing a bit, handing Luna the phone back before shrugging softly. "I'm gonna look for his Instagram." Arabella blurted out, grabbing her phone and typing quickly. "Damn! Miguel looks different." Arabella chuckled, looking through the boy's account.
"Wait, I wanna see!" Luna grabbed the phone, choking on her saliva as her eyes widened at the sight. "You guys are over exaggerating." Isabella rolled her eyes at her dramatic friends, laughing lightly. "No, you're just not reacting enough." Luna excused, looking at Isabella with a pointed look, handing her friend the phone.
Isabella grabbed the phone, looking down at the many pictures on his Instagram account, she kept her composure, not trying to show her friends that they were right. "Eh... he's alright." Isabella shrugged, handing the phone back before getting off of the bed, walking over to her bag to grab her water bottle. "Mhm, quit lying to yourself, sweetie." Arabella nodded, patting her friend from afar, teasingly. "Shut up." Isabella chuckled, sipping on her water.
