I shouldn't have said that. I should have kept my mouth shut. Fear spun her head and swamped her with nausea.
He reached for her. Everything happened too fast for Renna to comprehend. Before she could move, he grabbed her arm. Standing over her, staring down his nose, jaw clenched, his hot harsh breaths hit her face. The bitter smell of alcohol wafted off him.
She stopped breathing. Couldn't find air while looking into his eyes.
With a deep breath in and out, his grip loosened, body relaxed, and he shut his eyes. When he opened them again, he seemed to be someone else."Let's start over," he said with a smile. "From the beginning. Things will be different."
Her brain faulted. Took time to understand. "N—no, Levi. We can't."
"Yes. We can. Watch." He held out his hand to her to shake, the other hand still gripping her arm. "Hi. I'm Levi. What's your name?"
"I don't—"
"Renna?" he said, cutting off. "Wow what a great name. Would you like to be my girlfriend?"
"No."
He grinned. "You're supposed to say yes."
"We're done, Levi. I don't know how many times I have to say it. I don't want to be with you."
"One more chance, that's all I want." The words sounded like begging, but his tone made it more of an order.
"You want more than that."
"I want to have fun."
Bile rose up and she pushed it back down before it hit her mouth. "Then go find something fun to do elsewhere."
"I want to have fun with you." His fingers slipped into the waistband of her pants and he pulled her forward.
No no no no no no. Not again. Not again. No! Everything blurred. Out of focus. Too fast.
His hands on her hips. Eyes looking her up and down. Stomach flipped. Heartbeat. Boom boom. Boom boom. Loud. Fast. Not again.
She turned, tearing herself from his loose hold. Get to the bathroom! Lock the door! She could see her phone. Through the doorway. On the bed. Could she get it in time?
Pain. She stopped. Yanked back. Sharp pain over her scalp. She flew backwards. His hand ripped at the roots of her hair. Agony. Like hundreds of needles piercing her head. Her hand grabbed his, but it did nothing.
She lost her footing, and spun to regain it, but only stumbled more. In an instant, the ground came up behind her. His hand let go. Her head bounced off the floor.
Blackness took over her vision for a second, before fading away. When everything swirled back into sight, Levi's face took up her entire view. Leant over her. Smiling. His hands pinned her arms above her head. Half his weight or more crushed her, pressing on her stomach. His knees dug into her ribs.
"Beautiful," he said, staring into her eyes.
She squirmed. "Get off."
"You're so beautiful." He ignored her struggling, as if she were staring back at him instead. "You can't leave me. You're mine. You owe me."
Through gritted teeth, she replied, "I owe you nothing! G—get off of me!"
He leaned down and placed his lips on the side of her neck. Kissing. Licking. Sucking. Renna squealed and kicked, but her legs couldn't reach him and he ignored her cries.
Maybe if I scream loud enough, a neighbour will hear, she thought, but had no trust in that plan.
Either way, it's worth a try. She let out a high-pitched scream, filled with desperation and fear. It bounced around her apartment, but she couldn't be sure it made it out past her closed door and through a neighbour's door for them to hear.
"Heeellllp!" she cried. Would anyone come? Or would they pretend to have not heard a thing and go to bed? What else could she do? "Hel—"
His hand slapped over her mouth, cutting her off. He kept his lips against her neck as he growled, "Shut up." Her teeth pressed into the inside of her lips and cheeks. She tried to bite his palm but couldn't manage it. His fingers pushed up against her nostril. She couldn't breathe.
Get off! I can't breathe! Get off! Help! Help! Please! Get off! I'm going to die! Pain wrapped around her chest. Burning. Squeezing. Suffocating her. She wriggled. He held her tighter. One hand over her mouth, the other holding both her wrists. Knees crushing her from either side of her chest.
Tears sprung to her eyes. Leaked from the corners. Rolled down her cheeks and onto the floor.
His hand shifted slightly, pulling away from her nose, and she didn't hesitate to breathe in as much air to fill her lungs in an instant. As she panted through her nose, his mouth slid down to her shoulder. His body pressed down. Tongue ran across her collarbone. Terror shot a bolt of electricity up her spine.
I can't escape! I'm stuck! I'm—There's nothing—nothing I can do! Nothing I—I can't—I'm his. He has me. I can't—No one can help. I'm stuck! He's going to get what he wants. I can't stop him.
Her head pounded with dread. Throbbing. As sharp as a blade. Like her head being split open.
His hand lifted off her mouth and slithered down her body. She wanted to scream, to make someone hear her, but she couldn't push her voice past her closed off throat. Only a whimper came out.
"I love you," he moaned, as his hand stroked her thigh. "Don't you love me?"
Tears flowed. Sobs came out like croaks.
"If you—" He stopped talking as his body lifted from hers. With a shriek, he flew back and landed with a thud on the floor.
