She came out of the bathroom to find Jensen in the same spot but collapsed backwards to lay on the bed, legs over the edge, feet on the floor. His head turned sideways, gaze on the tv showing the Lucifer episode she paused on while on the phone with him.

With a quick glance up to see her in front of him, he said, "This is a good episode."

"You wanna watch it with me?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. She told herself her jitters came from the adrenaline of the attack and the fight, rather than from being near Jensen.

He sat up. "Yeah, sure."

As he positioned himself in a seated position at the top of the bed, she rewound the episode back to the beginning. She sat next to him and hit play. The lights left on in the living area caught her attention after she got settled, and she decided to turn them off later.

The episode began by recalling the last episode. She should have focused on the opening scene as it began, but her mind wandered back to the attack. Replaying the entire thing in pieces. Opening the door to see Levi standing there, the fight between him and Jensen, the way Levi restrained her to have his way.

Her heart raced like it had during it all. Chills ran up her spine. Tingles over her skin. She fought to control her breathing. Tried to keep it quiet. So Jensen couldn't hear. She put her focus on her shaky fingers, fiddling with the blanket over her lap. Stared down. Picked at the material.

Jensen's hand rested over hers. Her fidgeting ceased. She kept her eyes on their hands.

"It's okay," he said. "You're safe now. I got you."

A wave of calm washed over her. With a sigh, she allowed herself to relax, and focused on the tv show.

He held her hand until the episode ended, and before he pulled it away, he hesitated.

The next episode began. Halfway through it, her eyelids became heavier. She yawned every ten to twenty seconds.

"You look so tired," he said, his voice jolting her awake. "Do you want to go to bed?"

She took in a deep breath. "Yeah, I think I might." She shuffled down in the bed and pulled the covers up to her shoulders.

Jensen got up and stood to the side of the bed. "Alright. I promise I'll lock the door as I leave."

As he walked away, so did the safety he provided. He walked towards the door, and a rush of panic flooded her body.

"Actually!" She sat upright.

He stopped in the doorway and turned to look back at her.

A little unsure and quiet, she said, "Could you maybe stay a little longer? To make sure Levi doesn't come back?" Am I asking too much?

He smiled at her. "Absolutely." Sitting back down in his spot, they both watched Lucifer. Maybe she should have asked him to turn off the lights before he sat down, but she didn't want him to get back up again.

Watching the next episode, comfort washed over her in a warm wave. She permitted her brain to rest and the anxious thoughts to take a break, allowing peace to consume her mind and body.

Her breathing—slow and deep—drew her closer to sleep. Each blink became longer than the next. Soon, she held her eyes closed for seconds at a time before opening again to see what she missed on the tv series.
