"What? No. I don't—"
Briella held up her hand, cutting Renna short. "Sorry. It's not a request. I'm telling you it's happening."
Since leaving the house, she had been counting down the hours—the minutes—until she could get back home and lock her door. She wanted to return to her safe haven. No matter how lonely.
"I can't. I have things to do tonight."
Briella raised a brow. "Like what?"
"Err...I'm..I have to...Err..." She couldn't think fast enough.
"Right. Of course. You're extremely busy. I can see that now."
She laughed.
"Come on," her friend begged. "It'll be fun. Jada and Kelan are coming too. And Jensen." She wiggled her brows and smirked. "You wanna see Jensen again? He told me you've been distant from him too."
She's spoken to Jensen recently? A short surge of adrenaline shot into her veins causing her heart to beat faster. "What else did he say?"
"That he misses you."
She waited, expecting more but Briella just smiled. Then, she squinted her eyes, glancing back and forth between Renna's eyes.
"Why? Is there something else?"
"No." She tried to keep the unease out of her voice, but as soon as the single word came out, she knew she failed.
Briella smiled, and tilted her head to the side. "Did something happen with you two?"
Opening her mouth and closing it again, heat flushed her face making her glow red.
"Oh my god!" Briella shouted, eyes wide, bouncing on her toes. "Something did!"
"Shh." Renna looked back at the open doorway behind her, but she couldn't see Marnie it Julie inside.
Still bouncing, she said in a harsh whisper, "What happened? What happened? Oh my god. What happened?"
Renna smiled watching her.
"Tell me. Or I'll ask Jensen," she warned. "I'll find out some—"
"We kissed." Renna blurted the words out before she could think about it. Before she could rethink it. Or change her mind. She thought she might regret it, but Briella's shocked reaction gave her so much joy.
Her jaw dropped, eyes wide open. She stared at Renna as if she were a real life unicorn standing right in front of her. "Seriously?" Her lips curled up into a smile. A dazzling smile that made her eyes sparkle.
Renna grinned at her adorable expression and nodded.
With a high pitched squeal, she jumped up and down, clapping her hands.
"Stop." Renna shook her head, laughing at her wild, carefree friend.
Calming down, she asked, "So, you're dating now?"
"I think so. I don't know. We haven't talked about it." Renna's smile began to fade but Briella's grew.
"Well you can talk about it tonight. At the clubs. When you come with us. Right?"
