She knew she would have to leave at some point. I can't stay in the bathroom forever.
After hearing two songs start and end, she pushed away from the bench of sinks, and pulled the door open. Hesitating, she stepped out from the brightness into the dark, loud atmosphere. She walked down the hallway and back into the crowded room.
While she looked around, hoping to spot Jensen before Levi, a hand slithered around her waist and a body pushed against her from behind. Her body tensed. Fear strangled her, wrapping tight around her throat and chest. She couldn't breathe. Couldn't move. Frozen. As if stuck in a block of ice.
"Miss me?" he whispered into her ear, hot breath against her ear sending needle-like chills up her spine. His hand pulled her into him. Her stomach twisted, ab muscles clenching. Like a knife slicing into her gut. "You are breathtaking in that dress."
His hand moved upwards. She pushed it down. "Don't."
"Why?" He purred into her ear. "Am I not good enough?" Through his teeth, he said, "Would you rather I was Jensen?" His grip around her tightened.
She struggled, wondering how no one in the club could notice her situation. As she looked around at them, she saw several couples grinding against each other. They looked no different from her and Levi. Except they were enjoying it.
Levi shocked her by letting her go, but in a split second, turned her by her shoulder, pushed her back, and trapped her against a wall. "Do you really think he'll ever like you?" he hissed at her. "He's a guy too, you know? And all guys are the same. You think he'll put up with you without sex?"
"He's not like you."
"No?" He raised a brow, giving a stomach-churning smirk. "I've known him longer, remember? I've seen him with girls. I've heard him through the walls. If you think he wants nunhood, you're more idiotic than I thought."
With nothing to say, Renna stayed silent.
Levi pushed in, pressing his hips against her. "You wouldn't want to disappoint him, right? I can teach you. Show you how to satisfy a man? The bathrooms are right there." Leaning in, he whispered in her ear, "What do ya say? Wanna learn?"
"No."
He pulled back. "That's not going to get a guy to stick around."
"I don't care."
"You should." They were nose to nose. "Stop being a prude and give it up already." His hand stroked up her thigh. He slammed his lips on hers.
She pushed him back, managing to break the kiss apart. "Get off me."
He pulled back, but kept her trapped between his arms. "God! You're so frigid. Loosen up for once in your life."
"I don't want to." She pushed him back and jumped to the side to leave.
Before she could get far, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. "You're a waste of a hot body. And your celibacy act won't get you far." She tried to wiggle free but his grip tightened. "I promise you, it won't take long for Jensen to grow bored of you. When he does, and you decide to grow up and be an adult, give me a call. I'll be waiting."
She pulled free and he let her go. Weaving around people, she focused on keeping the tears back. She couldn't help but repeat Levi's words to herself, a small part of her believing them. She's always had the sneaking suspicion that no one would want her if they couldn't access her body. After years of fighting those thoughts, she began to truly believe them.
Every guy I've dated never wanted me after I told them no. They want all of me. Every part. No boundaries. Why would Jensen be any different? Why would any guy what a girl they can't touch?
She stopped, standing in front of the bar. The bartender saw her and came over. "What can I get ya?" he asked.
She hadn't been wanting a drink, but now that she was here and being asked, she answered, "A shot. Whatever you recommend."
He poured a clear liquid into a shot glass and slid it across the bar to her. She paid for it, dumped the liquid down her throat, squirmed at the strong biting taste, and he took the glass from her.
"Another?" he asked her.
She didn't enjoy the taste that sat on her tongue. "I'd like to try something different, please."
He grabbed another bottle and a creamy brown liquid filled the glass. It tasted like caramel. Caramel and window cleaner. She pushed it down.
Her negative thoughts slipped away as her head began to buzz. Her worries vanished. The weight on her chest lifted. She could breathe.
She held up a finger. "One more, please. This time a drink."
She watched him prepare a drink, shaking it in a silver mixer. He poured the pink drink into a margarita glass and after paying for it, she thanked him, and walked into the crowd sipping her drink. Something sweet and fruity. Watermelon? Strawberry? She didn't care. It tastes delicious. And best of all, it calmed her mind and settled her nerves.
She wandered around the club, heading nowhere in particular. While standing on the top level, looking over the edge at all the people dancing people below, hoping to catch a glimpse of Levi to know his whereabouts, she imagined her name being called from down below.
"Renna." It came louder and from behind her. Not below. She turned to find Jensen heading towards her. "There you are. Where did you disappear to?"
She had forgotten about him. Oh yeah. He was bringing me water. "Jensen," she greeted him. "You're back."
He stopped in front of her. She stepped forward to wrap her arms around his torso. He's a good guy.
"Hey," he said, patting her on her back, seeming unsure. "Did you drink more?"
She pulled back from him, smiling up at him. "Yeah. Two shots and a pink drink. It was gooood."
"Alright. But I think it's time for this." He held out a glass filled with ice water. "You know, the drink I told you to wait for me to bring back."
"Sorry."
"That's okay. But if you're going to keep drinking, you definitely need this." He moved it closer to her. "Stay hydrated."
Taking it from him, she gulped down the cold liquid until she emptied the glass. He took the glass from her and placed it on an empty nearby table, next to the margarita glass she discarded.
"Are you having fun?" she asked him as he turned back to face her.
He smiled. "Not as much fun as you're having."
What does he mean by that? He's not enjoying my company? Or he wants more than what I'm giving him? Levi's words repeated in her head. 'Jensen will grow bored of you.'
She began to wonder if she should do something to keep him interested. I'm sure he won't try anything like Levi. It's the least she could do after everything he's done is offer him something more. But what?
Jensen took her hand, and lead her away from the overlook. While they walked, she kept an eye out for Levi, but quickly forgot about him as they approached a booth chair somewhere in a corner. Empty. He slid in and she did the same, sitting close beside him.
