"Tom?" someone called.
Agent Tom Baldwin turned around from the punching bag he was using and saw that it was his partner, Diana Skouris. He was currently in the Homeland Security's gym.
"Hey," He greeted.
Diana nodded her head. "We have another case." She said nonchalantly.
"What's up?" He asked, putting away the gloves he was using.
"Well, another of the 4400 has not shown up for therapy...You wanna come with me and check out her home life?" She said.
"I don't know if we should...it seems most of them has gone to the same place they wish to be; Jordan Collier's place." He replied, honestly.
"Hmm...true." She said, "But, unfortunately it is our job since we were the first one to pick them up...No choice there."
Tom nodded his head but was actually against the idea. Nearly all of the 4400 do is never get over their woes and cling to those who had the same experience they did.
He was starting to wonder if Homeland is doing the job they were supposed to do: nearly all of the 4400 people found in that ball of light just seemed to flock better with their peers than with their extended family.
"So, ready?" Skouris asked.
Tom broke out of his thoughts and nodded his head. "I'm driving." He said. Skouris just shook her head in amusement and walked out of the gym.
Tom began to get ready for today's newest 4400 problem. He wondered what was her name and if he had seen her interview. He wondered a lot of things as he got ready.
When he was done, he went downstairs to the car that he and Skouris usually took out on investigations like this, and got in, no questions asked... Well except one; the name of the recent female 4400.
Skouris just looked at him and answered casually; "Her name is Vera, Vera Warren. She was abducted on May, 12, 1985." Tom said nothing. He had a vague flash of the name and who it belonged to: the fair hair, the pale skin, and the light colored eyes. He had seen her interview.
He remembered because she reminded him of a girlfriend he dated before his ex wife. He had a feeling the visit to her family's home would not end well. Most of them never did, there was not much of a happy ending for the 4400.
Driving on, his hands on the wheel, he was slowly realizing that, especially with his nephew Shawn. Shawn had run away recently after getting into a fight with his brother. Just what, Tom didn't ask. He was sure it could be resolved if Shawn and his brother talked. After all, family wasn't supposed to break, it was supposed to mend.
Focusing on the task at hand, he drove on and finally made a stop at the house Vera's family was in. Getting out the car, he followed after Skouris who had gotten out of the car before he did. They were halfway up the driveway when the front door opened, a young man with blond curly hair coming out. the young man was dressed in a pair of shorts and a button down shirt.
Turning around, face to face with the two NTAC agents, the young man wanted to know who were they. Tom and Diana exchanged looks before Tom took charge.
"I'm Agent Baldwin, this is Agent Skouris. We are from Homeland Security. We were wondering where is Vera Warren, she missed her first appointment with her therapist. The file-" Tom said, "-said she lived here..."
"Hi, I'm Damien Warren. Pleasure to help...but I haven't seen Vera since yesterday, I had left for college. I assumed she was at the office. Maybe Holly can help. Vera was her assistant." Damien said.
