One Of The 4400 Part 1 & 2

Chapter 25

*One Whole Night Into Capture*

Holly Warren had just gotten home, her fare paid and taken by the taxi man. The house lights were off except for one in the living room. Holly, for one, not noticing until she is already in the house, having unlocked her front door and opened it, locking it behind her.

"Hey," Vance said to her while on the couch.

Holly smiled at him. "Hey, hon. Are the kids in bed?" She asked.

"Yeah, been in bed a half hour ago. How is Damien? Is he alright?"

"He'll be fine. He is just staying overnight for observation. He should be fine to come back home today with my parents."

"They choosing to stay over?"

"Mmm, give me a moment to come over and sit down with you."

Holly moved over to the kitchen to get a cup of water and walked with it in hand to the living room, once in the living room she set down the cup of water and sat down on the couch, putting Vance's arm over her shoulder, closing her eyes.

"So what were you saying?"

"Hmm, I was asking if they were choosing to stay over..."

"Yeah, they are."

"I wonder why?"

Holly's eyes opened at that, she was remembering the results of what she said earlier at the hospital, the way her parents and brother looked at her so coldly, like she was in the wrong.

She felt that she was not wrong in what she said. After all, it has been her true feelings about her sister, it was the honest-to-God truth.

She was and still is jealous of her sister. No matter how Vera did not know math or was not popular like Holly was in high school, Vera, always somehow, in some way, got good attention.

It shouldn't really matter anyway, Vera left all these years ago, sure, not by her will, maybe. But she left again after coming back?. And that says something to Holly. She won't be coming back unless someone was hurt.

"It doesn't matter, as long as she stays away..." Holly muttered out loud, thinking of her sister.

"What?" Vance said, confused.

"Nothing," Holly said, trying to cover up what she said.

"No, you have to tell me, I want to know." Vance said, becoming more sure of what she said was about Vera.

"No, I don't want to." Holly tried saying jokingly.

"Vera, tell me."

"No,"

"Vera, tell me!"

"No!"

"Vera!"

"No, now hush, you're going to wake the kids!"

This earned Vera an upset look from Vance, his arm moving away from her shoulder, both of them looking at each other, not enjoying each other's company as they thought they would.

"Vera, please...tell me what you were saying..."

"You want to know? Fine; I said 'It doesn't matter, as long as she stays away', and you know who I meant by that, my dear? My own sister. I said that because my own parents are staying over at the hospital with Damien because of what I said. I told them--" Vera paused, "I told them that I didn't want to forgive her because I always felt insecure and jealous of her, what she had with you, her good reputation, everything. I don't want to share my family with her now that she came back, now that after all of these years, she still comes back gold and pure as she was, I don't want anything to do with her, point blank."

Vance sat there in stunned silence. Now was finally the truth. The truth of why all these years with Holly has been troublesome. Why talking about Vera was always a shaky subject between them.

He wanting closure of some sort, her wanting nothing of that kind. Why to him, this was the rift that never had them close as a married couple should be. Vera was and always will be the rift between him and Holly.

Now, back then he considered this bad and that was why he was considerably rude to Vera. Because he had to prove to himself that he still didn't want her.

But now, now, this moment of truth from Holly has made him realize that maybe he'll always be hung up on Vera, no matter what age difference there is between them, no matter what age he is.

"I want a divorce," Vance said, his voice coming out hoarse.

I think I scared you all with what I just wrote. I'm so sorry but the Volly/Hance/ ship is beginning to fail now that Holly has unleashed some cold hard truths about herself to the ones who thought she was okay with Vera coming back.

I'm sorry, shippers.

To be honest, right now, I see some chance of Vera and Vance getting back together versus Adam and Vera getting together. XD

I don't even know.

*hides behind bed*

I have to say I think I enjoy giving you all heart attacks. It makes me smile with pleasure. *Evil laugh* alright, alright, no more evilness, I don't want to end up being murdered in my sleep...

Next chapter will be focused on Adam's quest to find Vera, a sad and quick divorce between Vance and Holly, and a slight rivalry between Adam and Vance when they happen to meet for the first time.

Who knows what's going to happen this next chapter? No one knows, not even me.
