Vera's POV
I awoke in a bright room, a hospital room to say. It was a normal hospital room, nothing really specific about that I could point that made it different.
Just as I awoke, a person sitting in the chair on my right hand side stirred, a jacket over their face.
Moving very slowly, I grabbed the person's knee and shook it gently. Clearing my throat, I said my first word that day.
"Hey, hey, hey." I said, trying to wake that person up.
The person stirred for a moment and finally awoke. Taking the jacket off and revealing one blue eye, I could see it was the woman who called herself Agent Skouris.
"Hey, you're finally awake." She greeted me.
"How long I've been out?" I asked her.
"Twenty four hours, give or take. Luckily we found you before you could have passed out." She told me.
"W-What was the cause of me passing out?" I asked her.
"They weren't doing a good job of keeping you hydrated." She answered.
I nodded a little. They barely gave me much to drink. Mostly just fed me.
"What happened to Adam and Vance? Where's Zara? Helene?" I inquired. I wanted to know if I had to protect myself.
Skouris leaned over.
"Adam is fine, still healing from the gunshot wound. Up on the second floor of this hospital. Vance is fine, alive and kicking. Tom told me he might make a visit. Helene and Zara -- They're in jail, might be facing a trial soon. They won't get out. They won't hurt you anymore. Tom and I will make sure of that." Skouris told me.
I only looked at her, not saying anything.
"I believe you." I said a few moments later.
"Good. Alright, now that I know you're fine, I have to leave. But Tom and I will be back in the next two days to ask a few questions." Skouris told me.
I nodded my head.
Skouris got up out of the chair and walked to the door, only stopping halfway in the frame to say see you later, and with that, she left.
A good two minutes later the door opened and who else to walk in but Vance. He had a purple flower in hand.
Seeing that I was awake, he smiled and walked right over to me, giving me a kiss on my forehead.
"Hiya," He greeted me.
"Hi," I said.
"You okay, V?" He asked me.
"Never better," I answered.
"I'm glad to know. Here," He said, putting the flower into my hand. "This is for you, your favorite."
I looked down at the flower. It was a beautiful gesture but as I stared down at it, I began to think it wasn't.
There was something Vance wanted to tell me. It was just a matter of when. I may have dated Vance for two years before being abducted but he hasn't change much. He would give me gifts at times when he wanted to discuss a milestone in our relationship.
"Vance?" I said out loud.
"Yeah?" He said.
I swallowed.
"What is the flower for?" I asked him.
I looked at him. He smiled nervously at me. He then got up and walked back and forth, pacing.
