                        *Five Days Into Capture*

"Her name is Helene Lovell, and she's got your friend Vera. And she plans to use her, collect her, for a special plan in mind when she wins the election." Zara told Adam and Vance in the black limousine (she owned) in a back alley two blocks from the bar they were at a mere twenty minutes before.

"What is the specifics of this 'plan'?" Adam asked.

"I don't know more beyond that, unfortunately." Zara answered.

"How do you know this?" Vance inquired while being perplexed at the notion. "The only way you would know this is if you were really good friends with her or work under her."

"I did once, worked under her..." Zara admitted quietly.

Vance, despite being the youngest - at least mentally and chronological age, was the only one in the car who quickly understood her meaning and grinned to himself. He gave Zara a thumbs up.

Zara ignored the thumbs up, finding it ridiculous at the moment. To her, it didn't matter much. She was focusing on Adam's reaction. Adam blushed madly and said nothing about the woman's sexual orientation.

"Alright, good to know you two aren't homophobic assholes -- back to business..." She said.

"Wait," Adam muttered, his arms crossed.

Zara and Vance looked at the younger man.

"Wait, has she done you wrong, is this why you're assisting us?" Adam asked.

Zara froze in slight shock. He had guessed why but not the why.

"Well--" Zara started to say.

Adam interrupted her, "Because until you tell us why, I don't think I want Vance and I receiving your help to get Vera back if it is for the wrong reasons."

"I agree," Vance said. "Adam here may be young looking but he is as wise as an old sage."

That was when Zara smiled at the pair. She found it funny that the oldest was the young man and the young man around her age was supposed to be old. Irony runs strong in situations like these.

"Okay, I'll tell you my story..." She said.

"I did work with her, Helene, I mean... She was a fair boss in my line of work. I mostly help out with anything financial, really. Not like a banker, mind you, but something more proficient like...like...an financial advisor. I would tell her what would help her business as a possible candidate for the E.Y.E campaign." Zara said, pausing.

"Until, one day, something happened, and the rest you can guess from there... But what really has me sitting with you guys here, in this limo, in this alley, is an ultimate betrayal that Helene has done to me..." Zara said, pausing.

"She fell for a man, a man I had never met, a man whom I would easily forgive for stealing her away from me except for the fact that she let him steal her from me knowing that we were in a committed relationship. That, gentlemen, is why I'm here now and helping you." Zara finished.

"Vance, close your mouth, a fly will nest there." Adam quipped while processing Zara's story. Vance struggled to close his gaping mouth.

"So... Will you let me help you?" Zara said after a few moments.

Vance had taken the time to close his mouth. He was a cop, sure, but it had been a bit since he took two weeks off from work since he wanted a divorce from Holly.

"Fine, I'll let you help me." Adam said cautiously. "But..."

"But?" Zara and Vance said in unison.

"If I find out you're pulling our leg, I'll make sure you go down with us..." He threatened.

"I won't," Zara promised.

A few minutes has passed since Adam and Vance had taken up on having her help them get Vera back and left the limo to go walking back to Vance's car in front of the bar, Zara was now alone in the limo, a cig in her mouth, smoke in the air.

A shrill ring broke the silence as she was throwing the cig out the black tinted window, she fumbled around for the phone for a bit before picking it up. She recognized the number immediately.

"Hey," She said.

"Did they take the deal?" Helene asked.

"Yeah, they did, it took a bit, but they did."

"Who was the toughie?" Helene asked.

"I thought it would be Vance, the ex, but it isn't. It is Adam. Adam Heinzberg, he may be troublesome to our operation..." Zara admitted.

"Oh, darling, let it be. He might not be that bad once we figure out how to pick on what makes him weak." Helene told her.

"And how exactly will we know?" Zara inquired.

On the other side of the cell, Helene let out a devilish smile.

"My dear Zara, we have Vera. Vera and a few others is the key to everything in my plans to have the world of Seattle at our feet." She said

"Wouldn't he foil it?" Zara asked, suddenly wanting another cig.

"My dear, never..." Helene replied.

And with that, Helene hung up on Zara, leaving her with her thoughts.

"Do you think she is alright?" Vance asked Adam as they walked to Vance's car out front of the bar.

"Not too sure," Adam answered honestly. "But keep on your toes just in case. She is iffy."

"Hmm." Vance said, nodding his head as he opened the car door and got himself in.

                                     Vera's POV

"Why don't you join us, Vera?" Helene's voice cooed over the intercom on top of the table I sat across from, from where I remained night and day at (except for bathroom breaks for which one of the female guards unties me from my chair).

"Never," I said, my voice coming out hoarse.

"Too bad, I can't beat you physically, you proved yourself to be uncaring if you nearly die of wounds. Such a shame." Helene said, her voice still the same as before.

That's because I know I will get out of here. Because Adam will get me. Because I still haven't shown them what I can do. My power of being invisible. The strength that I feel nowadays when no guards are around and I am free to keep practicing it.

Because I know that through the training I give myself by practicing, I can accomplish using it at the right moment, the right time to use it, to get myself out, to trick her.

The thing is...

Can I be able to trick her?
