*Seven Days into Capture*

It has been two hours and Vance, Tom, and Diana are still searching for Adam.

"Dammit, how can you trust Adam after this, Vance? It seems he left and took you for a joke!" Tom yelled at Vance in the back seat of the two agents' car.

Vance shook his head. "I know that Adam wouldn't do this without a good reason." He explained.

"What makes you think that?" Diana asked Vance, peering over the passenger seat she was in.

Vance smiled at them. "Vera, that's why." He said, seeming to know something.

Skouris and Tom looked at each other.

"I recommend searching for Vera and Adam by calling a woman by the name of Zara Whittaker." Vance told Tom and Diana.

"We need to tell our boss, Tom. I have a shady feeling about this." Diana told Tom.

Vera's POV

A shrill noise came from them. It was a ringing. A phone. Helene looked at Zara. Zara picked it up.

"Hello?" Zara answered it.

Adam and I stood on our side with bated breath. It could be anyone on that phone. I just hoped it was no one we knew.

"Oh hey, Vance." Zara said out loud.

Vance.

Oh.

Shit.

"Oh yeah, we're fine. Of course Adam is with me. We found Vera. We are trying to get her out of these knots. Oh yes, we need help." She said, smiling at me.

She knows I would die before anyone I used to care about dead.

"The address?" Zara repeated. "The address is..."

I didn't have to hear the rest. I knew it was going to be inevitable. Vance was going to know the address and come here and be hurt.

Adam gritted his teeth in frustration.

"Does it means you will take him captive as well?" He asked Helene.

Helene let out a laugh.

"No, because he's not a 4400." She explained. "I plan to kill him right in front of you and Vera."

"I have no plans for regular humans, even the regular 4400s, only the exceptionary." She then told us.

"Why?" I asked with horror.

Helene and Zara exchanged knowing looks and giggled hysterically.

"Why, my dear, because you and many others are the key to my survival after I take away the world's security with my prototype O.M.I. as my first decree as Senator."

"Huh?" I said in confusion.

"It's a safe, a safe that's supposed to help employees get their pay." Adam mentioned.

"Not just that, darling. I'm going to need to hide soon after people figure out I know every little thing about them and their business, all thanks to O.M.I., and you are the only one of the 4400s that have an invisibility power."

Adam gasped.

"This is a world domination plan?!" He angrily yelled at Helene.

Oh no.

Oh shit.

"I don't think of it that way, darling..." Helene smirked. "It's really more about making Seattle fall to my knees... Besides, it's more of a... secure investment in my safety."

"And how would you happen to know about me?" I asked her.

Helene grinned wickedly while looking my way.

"Because... I have an old friend in the 4400 community and he owes Zara a favor after stealing me away from her." Helene answered me.

"So that was a lie?" Adam inquired angrily at Zara.

Zara didn't even flinch at his anger. She only smirked.

"How was I supposed to gain your trust?" She inquired.

"You're both evil psychotic bitches." I said.

"Doesn't matter, won't matter soon enough, because we win and you lose..." Zara said.

Adam stepped back and seemed to be lost in thought. He gasped a second later.

"Jordan?" He asked the both of them.

"Well, well, aren't you smart?" Helene said, clapping her bands together mockingly.

"No, no, no, Jordan wouldn't do this, he wouldn't condone this, he--" Adam said, trying to say.

"Oh, but he would. I would most certainly would if my great uncle would constantly avoid me and hate me for killing my great aunt." Helene quipped.

I could only stand there in shock, watching Adam's expressions go from anger to sadness and embarrassment.

This was wayyy more than what he told me. In fact, so unbelievable. I could hardly believe that I was a pawn in a game of chess.

All I wanted to do ever since I got back was feel like I belong but even that is a long gone shot.

I have invisible powers, half of my family hates me, while the other is hiding secrets and won't help much, and I might die before ever trying to succeed in anything.

I was going to go down and I don't have a say in it because it isn't really my choice. People are forcing it. I am just a speck in a world of infinity.

"No, no..." I said suddenly, feeling negative emotions.

Zara and Helene looked over at me.

"I won't let you." I said.

Then I moved over to Adam's side and grabbed his hand and activated my power.
