When Zoey and Harry find themselves both calling the same hotel home for an extended time, a friendship begins. A connection that started from convenience is fueled by alcohol, drugs, trauma, music and fun. How will this intense relationship end?
*...
I could feel the pill kicking in as I looked up at Harry and he smiled back down at me. I ran my fingers along the keys of the piano, not breaking my gaze from him. A familiar, beautiful melody rang out and his eyes and grin widened. I smirked at him in a cocky manner and continued to play. Music came easily to me, made sense to me. I was confident in this area of my life.
"100% surprises, you are." He mumbled, opening the bottle of wine and pouring generous portions in both glasses that sat on the piano. I had no idea what that meant but he said it with love so I was sure it was a compliment. "I am in love with whatever I ate out of the palm of your hand." He smiled at me again, chuckling, and I could see his pupils changing in front of my eyes. Clearly the medication was hitting him too. We grinned at each other, sharing the same euphoric feeling. He lifted the cup of wine and took a long drink. "Shit this is good ass wine, fuck." He had a big smile on his face that I don't think he even realized was there. I knew my own face probably mirrored his. I didn't bother trying to control the feelings of happiness and enthusiasm I felt coursing through me. That was the point.
I laughed and he raised an eyebrow. "I feel amazing." I whispered, changing the rhythm in my hands and smoothly sliding into the Ghostbusters theme song. Harry laughed and slid onto the bench next me. He watched my hands for a few moments before lifting his own fingers over the keys in front of him and joining me, playing an accompanying tune that was probably meant to compliment the classic theme song. "Is this the remix?!" I laughed with delight and he giggled too.
"Is it just me or does this sound amazing?" He asked, suddenly sounding drunk. Our quick duet was chaotic, at best.
"It's just you," I stopped playing and brought my hands to his cheeks, squeezing them together and causing his delicious lips to pout out like a fish. "But you sure are pretty." He let his head drop back, his face leaving my hands as he laughed happily.
"What else can you play?" He asked me, standing up from the bench and walking over to the acoustic guitars. I made my way after him, picking up the ukulele and beginning to strum. After a few warm up moments of dicking around I began plucking the opening notes of "Rainbow Connection" from the Muppet movie. I heard a joyful gasp and then it took less than 20 seconds for Harry to join me on the acoustic guitar he had been tuning.

I couldn't believe he knew this song, it was a Kermit the Frog bop from the swampy intro to The Muppet Movie! But alas, we stared wide-eyed, laughing, at each other and started singing together in drunken harmony as we successfully duet. It was the most natural, instinctual thing I had ever experienced, especially when high.
"Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side Rainbows are visions They're only illusions And rainbows have nothing to hide So we've been told and some chose to Believe it But I know they're wrong wait and see
Someday we'll find it The Rainbow Connection The lovers, the dreamers and me
Who said that every wish Would be heard and answered When wished on the morning star Somebody thought of that And someone believed it And look what it's done so far What's so amazing That keeps us star gazing What so we think we might see
Someday we'll find it That Rainbow Connection The lovers the dreamers and me
Have you been fast asleep And have you heard voices, I've heard them calling my name Is this the sweet sound that calls The young sailors The voice might be one and the same I've heard it too many times to ignore it It's something that I'm supposed to be
Someday we'll find it The rainbow connection The lovers, the dreamers and me La lala la lala la la la lala la la la"
