(I've let you be happy for way too long..time to add some sadness)
Michael POV:
Tonight was my lacrosse game. It was our homecoming game too so a lot of people were there. Even some kids from the middle school were there too. I saw a lot of teachers and students in the crowd. I was in the staring lineup today which was awesome.
We were currently towards the end of the first half. We were winning by a few points and the other team started to get a little harsh. I was running with the ball and went to score a goal before I blacked out.
Charlotte POV:
"What happened? Why is he on the floor?" I asked my friends. "I don't know. He just fell." One of them responded. "Michael!" I shouted and ran to the side of the field. "Coach! He's hurt!" I shouted again and ran closer to the field. The coach started to notice and made hand motions to pause the game. Everyone stopped and looked at Michael still on the floor.
I ran over to go check on him before Ben held me back. "Let me go!" I told him and tried to get out of his arms. I heard the coaches muttering something but I don't know what. "Ben let me go! He's hurt! I need to see if he's okay!" I shouted. "Charlotte, call your parents." The coach told me and I nodded. They were at some event thingy tonight.
"Dad?" I asked when it seemed like he answered the phone. "Charlotte? What's going on? Is everything alright?" He asked. "No. Michael collapsed during lacrosse and he's not waking up! The coaches told me to call you but I don't know what they're going to do." I told him while bursting into tears. "Okay, get the coach on the phone." Dad told me in the most serious tone I've ever heard. I handed the phone to the coach and him and dad started talking.
"Okay, we're gonna get him on an ambulance. It's already on the way." I heard the coach tell dad. They talked for another minute and hung up the phone. A siren rang out through the crowd and the coach ran over to talk to them and get them to my brother.
A few minutes later Michael was loaded onto a stretcher and drove off to a nearby hospital. "Can you please give me a ride?" I asked one of the older cheerleaders I was friends with. "Yeah, why didn't you get on with them?" She asked as we ran to her car. "They wouldn't let me." I mumbled. The ride there was very long yet short. It was nerve wracking, what if he dies? Nobody knows what happened to him!
When we got to the hospital I had to sit in the waiting room. I kept texting dad and updating him even though nothing was happening.
"Charlotte!" Dad shouted and ran over to me. I gave him a hug and cried on his shoulder for a second. "They won't tell me what happened! They don't even know!" I cried and dad hugged me tighter.
"Are you the parents of Michael Watson-(L/n)?" A nurse asked mum and dad. They nodded and the nurse told them to sit down. "What happened?" Mum asked and the nurse shook her head. "I'm sorry, I don't know at the moment." She apologized. "What do you mean you don't know?! My son collapsed in the middle of a lacrosse game! Something happened!" Dad yelled. He was angry, angrier than I've ever seen him. Mum was quiet, like she was still trying to process everything that was going on.
I was brought out of my trance when I felt my phone vibrate. It was a text from Sadie. I didn't even read what it said before I realized she didn't know what happened to Michael. Unless Ben told her but I don't think he did. "I'll be right back." I told my parents and walked to a quiet area.
"Hello?" Sadie answered the phone. "Sadie, hi." I mumbled. "Hey Charlotte!" She responded cheerfully. "Something happened to Michael. We were at lacrosse and he just collapsed and now he's in the hospital. And nobody knows what's going on and they won't tell us!" I told her through tears. "What? Which hospital?" She asked and I told her where we were. "I'm on my way." She announced and hung up the phone.
I walked back to where mum and dad were sitting and we just waited. Mum looked like she was about to cry and I think she already did, and dad just was zoned out but he looked really stressed. The doctor arrived to us a few minutes later.
"Is be okay?" Mum asked desperately, holding onto Dad's hand tightly. "It's mostly likely a heart attack or a stroke. The nurses are working on stopping it right now. Has he been experiencing mass amounts of stress?" The doctor asked and we had to think about it for a second. "He's been applying to colleges and writing a lot of essays. It's probably stressful." I responded. Mum and dad nodded in agreement. "I'll be back out shortly with the results." The doctor told us and left the room again.
"Oh god, what if he's had a heart attack?" Mum asked dad and had a mini freak out. "He's gonna be fine Emma. He's strong, he's gonna be completely fine." Dad reassured her and gave her a hug. I felt someone wrap their arms around me and noticed the ginger hair. I relaxed into the hug and just cried. "Let it all out." Sadie reassured me and rubbed my back.
I don't know how long I cried for but I only stopped when the doctor came back out. "I have some good news and some bad news." He told all of us. Everyone looked at him expectantly. "The bad news is he had a minor stroke, the good news is we were able to stop it in time before he would've had any long term affects. He should be fine and make a full recovery. But he needs to take it easy for a few weeks. That means no sports or strenuous activities." The doctor informed. We all nodded and the doctor let us go see him.
When we got into the room Michael was asleep. Makes sense, he needs to rest. Mum relaxed much more now that he was here and she could see him. She put a kiss on his forehead and then sat down on the chair next to him. Sadie sat on the other side and held his hand while dad and I sat where there was room. The room had a Tv so we were able to watch something while waiting. Nobody paid attention the show and it was just used as background noise.
Eventually we heard a rustle coming from the bed and Michael moving a bit. We all watched him intently before he opened his eyes.
Michael POV:
I woke up to a bright light hitting me. I groaned and tried sitting up before someone hugged me. "You're okay!" Mum exclaimed and hugged me even tighter. "I won't be if you keep hugging me so tightly." I joked tiredly and she let go before kissing my cheeks over and over. I noticed Charlotte looking relieved, dad looking tired but happy, and Sadie just smiling at me.
"What happened?" I asked groggily. "You had a stroke." Charlotte informed me before giving me a hug. "You scared me! You collapsed during lacrosse and nobody knew what happened!" She informed me and started crying. "But I'm fine now, don't cry." I told her. She sniffled and let go of me before sitting down again. Sadie was next to hug me, but it was a side hug. I leaned my head on her as she sighed. Dad gave me a hug on my other side and I decided to lie back down. I'm tired still.
I was allowed to have one person spend the night with me. Mum and Sadie fought it out and eventually mum won, but only with the promise that Sadie could stay with me at home for a few days once I was allowed to leave the hospital.
Mum slept next to me on the chair all night, and the next day was a day full of eating jello and watching Tv in the hospital bed with everyone. I had a few visitors like Ben and Daniel, and Flo. But I didn't let too many people come to visit. I let them know I was okay and I'd return to school once I was allowed to leave the hospital.
It was going to be an interesting next few days, especially since I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital for another few days so they could monitor me. But at least I'm okay, I felt bad for scaring everyone.
