Chapter 18 - Torture

This was bad

REALLY BAD!

The villains had took Kiyo and Shizu separately into that little room, and they have been to traumatized to say anything about it. Me and Blake continued to try to get them to talk, begging and slapping to get their attention.

" Kiyo come one! You have to say something, We are heading in there next and we need to try to prepare ourselves!" Blake begged. Blake was never one to really ask or beg, she usually forced the information out of people. So the fact that she was begging like this, clearly showed how desperate we all are.

We sat there in silence, waiting for an answer from Kiyo that we knew would never come. Suddenly a small sigh was heard from behind us, so quiet that the rats skittering around were louder.

" you can prepare yourself for what they are going to do. It's not like any torture technique you have ever seen." Whispered Shizu, their voice so soft and quiet yet full of pain, regret, guilt and sadness.

The door flew open and the supervillains Frostbite and Rain came it, a smirk on their lips as they made their way to our cell. The two opened the door and immediately pounced on me. Their hands secured any part of my body that I could have used to escape their clutches as they drug me to the room. I could hear Blake bellowing in protest " LET HIM GO!" She yelled, she tried to pull at the bars in desperation but they were futile.

The villains pull me into the room, it was clean and neat in a somewhat scary way, a chemistry set on the side. My mind was focused on the hospital or dentist chair in the middle as the villains pushed me into it and strapped my hands down. " could you at the very least, tell me what the heck your gonna do?" I asked bleakly, not letting any form of emotion show. But deep down, I was terrified " let's just say that we know how some vigilantes are like. They can take stabs, broken bones, almost any form of physical pain. But there is one little soft spot that we have learned to manipulate and hurt."

After his little villain speech, Rain laughed as he pulled out a small syringe and put it into my neck. It jerked and struggled but the liquid went in anyway and my vision went dark

My eyes opened to the sound of screaming, yells and grunts. The door was blasted open and someone walked in. Artemis.

My jaw dropped and my heart soared as I saw the ivory white haired hero walk up to me and start taking off the cuffs. " thank god we got here before they could do anything to you Shino." He huffed in his deep voice. I smiled " it's so good to see you Artemis" as soon as the cuffs were off, I launched myself at Arty and wrapped him a tight embrace. I heard Artemis grunt but soon embraced as well. While in the hug, I felt his form shift as his hair returned to it's normal pattern and his size shrink. I pulled away and looked into the eyes of the Artemis I know and love.

His eye color was back to it's mesmerizing purple, his hair black and white, and a bit of a blush on his cheeks that made him look adorable. I leaned my forehead on his as Artemis mumbled " we can do this latter." He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the door and back to the cell area. The cell doors were wide open with no sign of the others in them. Hopefully they escaped.

we made our way towards the fire escape. But we never made it.

At the door stood the metal manipulator, knife in hand, smirking " I see, this is who you value most, good to know." He made the knife float into the air. Before I could call out for Artemis to move, the knife flew through the air and impaled him in the stomach. He stood there for a minute, in shock before collapsing to the ground.

My word right there seemed to change, my heart pounding in pain and denial, venom coursing through my veins. I fell to my knees next to him. I tried to see if there was any spark of life left in him as I grabbed his hand. " no, no, no, Artemis! Please get up!" Blood pooled where the stab was as I check for a pulse, I checked if he was breathing, anything. But not a single sign of life. I broke down in tears, burying my head into his chest as I clutched his prone form. " please Artemis, no" I sobbed.

Behind me, the metal manipulator laughed " good, now we know how to hit back in the war" I turned to him, tears of anger and grief in my eyes and a screamed and pounced on him. Only to have my world dissolve and everything going black.

" ARTEMIS!!!" I screamed when my vision came around. I looked at my surroundings, same room, same people. Just instead, they had a look of proudness and victory on their faces.

I panted as if I had just run a marathon, soaked in sweat but was shivering with cold and fear.

It was just a vision those creeps put in your head, none of that was real.

Then why was it so realistic? Why am I shaking so much even though I know it wasn't real?

After a few minutes, the villains dragged my still in shock body back to the cells where I collapsed, exhausted. Blake was immediately on me, her mouth was moving, yet I couldn't hear anything. I closed my eyes so I could think to myself, but all I could think of was that vision. And the others I have had where Artemis dies.

Please, please let Artemis stay safe. I have suffered enough, don't take Artemis as well.
