A man cried wolf

Ace finished the tiger with relative ease, the meat was a little burnt unfortunately but Ace had worse. Ace sat in silence for a long time. Thoughts and worries crept in Ace's mind of the man. Would it truly have been the end of the world if Ace just shared? Whatever, what's done is done.

Ace's eyes lingered to where the man had left. The man wouldn't keep quiet, none of them do. Ace doesn't even know why spirits are so scary, what's scary about them? They can turn invisible?

Ace stared at the ground, his eyebrows furrowing with frustration. Might as well go to town and find out if the man cried to every living resident like all men do. Ace stood up with slight hesitation.

He doesn't want the possibility of being found out even more. Usually when people first find out someone's a spirit of some kind it always starts with just a rumor. Ace highly doubted it would be different here. Especially when the forest he lives in is known to be haunted. Ace shrugged slightly before looking to his side.

Probably would be better to disguise himself in some way or another.

Ace felt his body warm up to a substantial degree before shifting. He felt himself getting smaller before he was finally on all fours. Instead of hands he had paws and instead of pupils he had slits.

Ace had no issue shifting into a cat. Especially just some house cat. He took the example of the black fluffy cat he saw earlier. It wasn't a house cat so it wasn't fat so Ace had easily gained some agility.

Ace started running easily through the forest being careful of the vines that copied a variety of animals. It was best to avoid something that would try to kill you, believe it or not it was common sense. Sabo had always said Ace had no common sense but Ace likes to believe he did.

Finally he reached the edge of the forest, Ace doesn't leave the forest too often. It's just better for him to stay in the forest away from people, he always causes unnecessary problems anyway. But now, he needs to see what the man is saying. If he ever made it out of the forest anyway.

Ace looked around the sun high in the sky the grey clouds were starting to scatter, it either already rained or wasn't going to in the first place. You could never tell the time that easily with the canopy of the forest.

Ace jumped from rock to rock until he finally made it to a cluttered road. Different markets littered the edges of the street some were just stands while others were actual buildings.

Ace was beginning to turn into an alleyway when he heard the wailing man. He looked inside the building window, everything was just mumbling he couldn't hear what they were saying.

"Suppose this is what I get for being a damn cat." Ace thought with a groan.

Ace was about to leave when he noticed the people in the building were all staring at him. The wailing man had a shaky finger pointed at Ace. Was this cat that he took the form of a troublemaker or something?

Suddenly it didn't feel so safe being a cat anymore.

Ace leapt from where he was on the window seal and began running through the crowded streets. He heard some yelling behind him but he couldn't make out the words.

Ace's fur stood on its edges. He heard barking. A cat's natural enemy, a dog. "It's one thing after another today!" Ace thought with a whine.

The dog was faster than him in this form. He turned around and felt his body shift to make himself bigger. When he turned into different animals the instincts always stuck with him. Ace doesn't know whether or not he should be happy about it though. Sometimes it was just downright embarrassing.

Suddenly the sky got rather dark and thunder rumbled through the sky. The dog looked up and was clearly distracted. Ace felt relief flooding through his body but before he stayed and enjoyed the feeling he jumped on a nearby fence. He was way too close to the docks in his opinion.

He enjoyed the sound of the ocean but sailors never really had anything nice to say. Pirates were usually even worse.

Ace stared up at the sky, just a few minutes ago the sky had been clear of any dark clouds. Ace shrugged off the strangeness of the weather, he was in the New world now. Ace figured he should find somewhere to stay so he could avoid the assault of water droplets that would no doubt start in a minute or two.

Ace found a rather small area that would do fine for the time being.

Water was Ace's natural enemy. He could do just fine in the water. Fire is naturally extinguished by water, so his powers alone get weakened.

Ace watched with disdain as water began pelting the ground with unnatural velocity. He hoped it wouldn't turn into hail or any sort. He also hoped it wouldn't last too long. But with his super great luck, he's sure he probably has worse to worry about.

Ace felt his nose twitch as he rested his head on his paws. His tail curled around himself in the process. Ace could probably just sleep the rest of the day away.

Ace remembered when one time it had been early spring and when he woke up snow had fallen on the ground. Ace grimaced at the memory. He really hoped he wouldn't do something as dumb as that ever again. He doesn't mind sleeping for a couple days straight but months?  Now that's where he crosses the line.

Ace sighed as he heard the waves getting more aggressive from the winds.

This was going to be a long day.
