Ch 16: Fading Dreams

The young woman her eyes widened in fear once more, a short whimper leaving her mouth.

''You guys said, you would protect us...'' Unlike the male I encountered before, she was still able to move her hands. They gripped tightly onto my collar, her strength trying to pull me down.

''This is....your fault. All of you, because of you we are dyi-'' Her words fell short. Her black colored eyes rolled back and her hands released me in an instant. 

She is dead...

I wasted no time sheltering myself away from the arrow attack. Peaking over my shoulder I tried to reach for the arrow pierced in my shoulder blade, with a quick motion I snapped the wooden shaft. 

''Y/N!'' A sense of vexation flashed before my eyes as I recognized Sheria her voice from behind me. 

''O-Over here! She is wounded.'' She held onto a little girl, trying to lift her off the ground. Before I knew it I rushed towards the two, shielding them away with my body.

''I told you, to stay away from here!'' I didn't even want to look at her right now. It was anger, consuming me in a way I never felt before. 

''I couldn't just leave her!'' Ignoring her words I took in the child her state. Lucky for her it wasn't an arrow that inflicted her wound. It was just an open wound from falling over. Tearing at my sleeve I used it to tighten the pressure around the wound. Sheria her eyes never left mine, she was scared. I could sense it, I could feel it. 

''Y/N.''

''I'm bringing you both up the hill.'' I tried to hide my anger once I locked eyes with the child before lifting her up. 

The arrows stopped, we should make a run for it now.

Just in time one of Dawran his men came in sight. There was a state of panic displayed on his face.

''There are more men approaching, we are outnumbered.'' Where is Yoongi? 

I shoved the child into his trembling arms before pushing Sheria next to him.

''Take these two up the hill, stay there and make sure everyone reaches the cave. We'll hold them up here.'' 

''Y/N I don't want to le-''

''You're going to do as I say!'' I bellowed. She cowered away from me. It's the first time I lashed out like this towards Sheria, it's the fault of these human emotions I'm experiencing. 

But not even seconds after my hands reached for her arm pulling her towards my side. Just in time, I sensed the arrow that flew past us.

''Go!'' I instructed the male, while I gripped Sheria dragging her along with me.

Another attack? Just how many archers do they have?

''Y-You have been hit..''

''It's nothing.'' I made sure to keep her glued to my back as we took shelter behind a sturdy tree. It brought some sort of ease noticing more of our allies joining, fighting off the archers in the distance. My first priority was to bring Sheria to safety. 

''Listen carefully. We are going to make a run for the lake okay? When I give the signal just run, I'll be right with you.'' She nodded but her hands trembled as they held onto me.

It was a dangerous end towards the lake, but I know that....we would be safe there. We will cross it and I'll hide her away somewhere before searching for Yoongi. We need a battle plan, otherwise, this won't come to an end.
