It was after a while that I had such a restless night. The first time was the day I left the palace after that I started to get used to the space I was and the situation I was in. Yesterday night closing my eyes and drifting away was something that didn't occur to me. My eyes were heavy and my body ached from pain, but the loud noises going on till deep in the night kept me awake.

The cold in the room and the sturdy wood underneath me felt uncomfortable. The bed sheets were thin and half of my body wasn't even on the bed. Y/N suggested many times for her to just lay on the floor but I refused. Instead, the both of us lay awake in silence, looking at the ceiling with dark corners. It was the first sunrise once again a set of moans seeped through the thin walls along with creaking bed noises. The man who was lodging in the room next to ours was going at it almost the whole night. The thing that disturbed me was the fact that the other voice in the room with him seemed familiar. The woman didn't seem to enjoy his company....it felt forced.

Perhaps the only thing pleasant about this morning was the peaceful chirping of birds by our window. I turned to my side taking a glimpse at Y/N, noticing how she was already looking at me made my heart thump loudly.

I'm suddenly getting nervous.

''D-Did you sleep well?'' The grim expression on her face said enough while she glared at the walls as if breaking them down. I slightly chuckled placing my hand against her cheek.

''I guess you didn't either.'' The ray of sunlight entering our room seemed to favor her. It warmed her skin and brightened her eyes. She looked lovely. Taking in her appearance I noticed the behavior of my hand stroking her cheek and quickly pulled away.

I promised her not to act on my feelings, I made a mistake just now.

''We should head down for breakfast.'' I nodded following her lead. She brushed her messy locks tying them into a loose ponytail before washing her face. Downstairs the inn was cramped, mostly men filled the room. Their lusty gazes when they eyed Y/N made my hands itch.

''Let's sit in the corner.'' I rested my hands on her shoulders guiding her to the table. Hopefully, this would give them a sign to back off but unfortunately, one male followed behind us. Once we sat he nonchalantly sat himself down at our table. Shifting his chair closer to Y/N.

''Can we help you?'' He brushed my question aside and leaned over scanning Y/N her appearance. She paid him no mind and instead started to eat from the dry bread that was served.

''Are you guys travelers?''

''We are.'' Once again his eyes were only fixed on Y/N even though I answered.

''Where too?''

''None of your concern.'' This time he did look at me. His dark brown eyes and the scar drawn on his face had to make me feel intimidated. He was larger than me, and more muscular however locking eyes with him didn't scare me a bit. I have no status to protect me on this journey. I can't simply wave my hand as the prince and have everyone kneel down I know that too, however. Men like him make me foam at the mouth.

''I was asking her not you.'' In fast motion, his hand gripped Y/N her face. Clenching her cheeks with his tight grip. It hurts...I could tell on her face. Before I could rip myself off my chair, she cocked her head away from his hand. Her cheeks were red...

''He already answered, want me to repeat it?'' the glare she held this morning stayed plastered on her face. But instead of having him back out and return to his own table he started to smile. He was amused by her behavior as a matter of fact it intrigued him.
