Ch 27: Parting Ways

It felt like it has been ages since we gathered together like this back on the ship. More grief full faces than happy ones from before we started this battle. After all, we lost some of our people too. The poison that took the lives of many still remained a mystery to us. Unfortunately, the one who developed it was no longer alive to reveal the information we seek.

″Tomorrow when the sun is at its highest we shall part ways.″ I spoke. Dawran lowered his head while some others started to portray confusion on their faces.

″What do you mean by part ways?″ Minjae asked making me glimpse at Dawran for a moment. He sighed taking a step forward while his men joined his side.

″We have lost quite some of our men. Their families deserve to bury them the traditional way and be able to give them a proper goodbye. These men belong back at Ravenhelm so I have requested the prince to allow me and my men to travel back,″ He bowed. It was a decision everyone respected so we couldn't decline it.

I shall allow Dawran to return with his men and establish his days back in Ravenhelm. They are our comrades, our allies. When we need them once again, I shall summon him back to my side.

″Send my regards.″ Yoongi spoke his firm hand gripping Dawran his shoulder. He nodded too, bowing once again.

″I will have them take the ship.″ I announced something that came as a shock to most.

″They are with many men, not to forget the bodies they carry with them. The fastest way to get back to Ravenhelm is by sea. Not to forget that....from now on we have to move carefully. As most of you are aware there is a clear bounty on my head. It will only be a matter of time before others will get on that same list.″

″As long as we remain in the kingdom the chances of that happening grow with the day.″ Jungkook commented.

″That's why we are going to leave...″ I replied. It reminded me of the thinking I did last night. I couldn't even sleep a wink. The decisions I will make can get others killed right now, the most logical thing to do is seek allies. To seek a land we can remain safe and protected.

″Where to?″ Jimin asked. Locking eyes with him I showed him an uncertain look and it made him all the more anxious.

″All the way up to the northern kingdom.″

″The northern kingdom?″ Yoongi questioned. The northern kingdom is an independent kingdom for many years now. The king that rules that place is none other than my uncle, but he and my father don't get along. The last time I saw my uncle was when I was a mere 5-year-old boy. We don't especially share an uncle and cousin bond, more like we are strangers to one another. Yet right now the only thing I can think of is turning towards my uncle.

″My uncle rules over the northern kingdom, though I have to confess I haven't seen him since I was 5 years old. We are no different from strangers, but his son....is a high lord there. I remember playing with him a lot of times. The days we spend time together he felt like an older brother to me, but also he I haven't seen in over 16 years or so. If he remained the same as I remember he will surely help us get in touch with the king.″

″You're going to try and convince your uncle to take your side and start a war against your father and his kingdom?″ Yoongi asked. I weakly nodded right now that is the only plan I could come up with.

″Right now that's the plan yeah.″ I confirmed.

″The northerners despise us that's no secret. Perhaps your uncle does want to join your side. The reason why your father so desperately tried to make an alliance with the Southern kingdom is that he feels threatened by your uncle. I'm sure of it.″ Minjae spoke.
