Y/N
The night turned even darker and after a long careful walk, we started to catch a faint smell of smoke.
''There is a fire lit, you see the smoke?'' Taehyung pointed out. I nodded following behind him just like I always had. Fifteen minutes later we were close enough to hear voices. Both of us exchanged glances before getting off our horses.
''Let's proceed by foot,'' I suggested. We tied the horses down and continued our travel carefully. Hiding behind the trees and bushes, it became clear that a camp was in front of us. I took it all in. A campfire lit in the middle, by the fire, sat two men. Behind them an unsightly-looking shack, with questionable noises coming from them. The door to the shack slammed open revealing another grim-looking male. His belt was undone and there was a smug smile creeping on his face.
''What did Falcon say about damaging the goods.'' One of the men by the fire began. He seemed frustrated.
''I didn't damage anything, I just had a little taste.''
''Where is Cole?'' While focussing on their conversation I skimmed around the area with my eyes. The two by the fire were armed.
''Having a taste too.'' I furrowed my brows. There should be five of them, if one of them is inside does that mean the other is with him too?
''Damaging the goods..'' Taehyung seemed disturbed by what the male said, and I shrugged.
''Perhaps they are smugglers,'' I replied. It was a wild guess.
''I don't see the girl.'' He continued. I watched him focus on the scene in front of us while I took some steps back. I could sense it, a figure that crept up behind us but I played it out like I wasn't aware. With a quick spin, I turned my body around the figure placing my hand on his mouth while my other arm was hooked around his neck.
Taehyung got alarmed by my movement and before the person in my arms could react I turned its head with force snapping its neck.
''That's because she is inside.'' I finally replied. He fell in silence, stunned by what just happened while I allowed the body to carefully slip to the ground.
That's one down.
''H-How, W-When...'' He looked down at the body.
''When we were observing he sneaked up behind us,'' I explained. Right now it wasn't the time for him to freak out about a minor thing like this, but before I could snap him out of it. It seemed he already composed himself. I was taken aback when he bent over patting down the male his body.
''Here.'' He tossed me a dagger, snatched from the man his waist. And a bag of coins which he stuffed in his pocket.
''You don't have anything to defend yourself with.'' He made it clear. The day we parted ways I gave him my sword, it has been by his side ever since. Looking at it....it feels like it has always been meant for his side and not mine.
''What do you want to do?'' I asked him, he glanced back over his shoulder. Both of us kept quiet while staying low.
''Let's not kill them they can be useful. Right now the only thing on my mind is the girl they brought here. I want to make sure she is okay.'' This won't take long.
''You think you can handle one of them on your own?'' He nodded firmly already gripping his sword.
''I can, I'll show you how reliable I can be.'' His confidence allowed me to grin.
''Then on my cue, just head straight for the shack. I'll handle the three outside.'' He nodded and without letting more seconds pass I threw my dagger. A scream erupted through the night sky and Taehyung disappeared from my sight already making a run for the shack.
