A Long Cold Winters Night

December 5th ~ "I know it's winter"

Snow on the ground as the winter wind blows
Cold fingers wrapped around hot cocoa
Outside the window what do you see?
The beautiful sight of a winters majesty
Snowflakes fall as the ground turns white
Lucy looks at her siblings; with big pleading eyes
And they could never say no, to that sweet, innocent smile
So the children bundle up in their scarves, coats and hats
And out into the cold they go
For an afternoon of fun in the snow
Lucy makes snow angels while the boys have a snowball fight
And Susan skates some figure eights on the ice
The kids go sledding and build a snowman
Before Susan decides it's finally time to go in
The fire crackling; so warm and bright
4 siblings snuggled close together for the night
Hot chocolate to warm cold souls
And cookies to make them laugh
Next to the Christmas tree and stockings hung so nice
This is the best way to spend a long, cold winters night
