Chapter 27 - What's the catch?

Zach's POV through chapter 25 and 26

I stood in front of Giselle's room, thinking of what I was going to say to Eve plus how to deal with her reaction towards my wound, I shook my head changing my mind and went to my room. I tried to figure out what got into Eve and yet I kept failing, no leads anywhere. It was night, I didn't know what time, got nothing to do so I walked out to the balcony and saw Eve sleeping in Giselle's room across mine.

She looked like she was having a nightmare, I teleported to her room then sat beside her on the bed, she kept mumbling something while struggled on the bed because of her dream. I caressed her face and gave her a spell that could ease those nightmares, thus she stopped moving and slept peacefully. Although I never said it to her but I always like to be face to face like this, she might think of me as a creep for watching her sleep for I can't get any since my nightmares are worse than hers. I ran my thumb softly on her cheek, looking at her lips reminded me of our kiss, I was such an idiot for doing that although I didn't regret it. I still can't believe this girl is the Lost Princess. I grinned at the way she let out small moans and sighs in her sleep. I gave her a peck on the lips, she smiled unconsciously and that just made my night.

Eve locked herself for days, every time one of us tried to talk she just shut us off. I kept going to her room every night and noticed her bad dreams, my spells weren't working making her mental tortured. One night, Eve kept screaming and Lionel went for her, his room was the nearest, I heard of them debating when Lionel came out, I approached him "What happened?" I asked, he turned his head to me and sighed "It's Angie. Her dreams are getting worse and her energy is fading, I don't know what's happening to her".

He was right, every night Eve struggled in pain both mentally and physically. I went to her room and saw her face was pale, she was sweating and panting, she's haunted by those nightmares, I gave her a recovery chant then pulled the blanket upon her and ran my thumb across her cheek, I whispered "You're gonna be fine, I promised".

I closed my eyes and teleported to Amethyst empire, never quiet fond of this place, Glitches came over me and escorted me to the palace, there I saw Dmitri on his throne. I glared at him and he replied with a smirk "Well, what a pleasant surprise. A visit from the future king of Ruby or should I say "Ex" future king of Ruby", he rose from his sit and approached me then I snapped "What did you do to Eve?", he walked around me as the glitches took few steps back "Eve? You mean the lost princess? Nothing." He replied with a sinister smile, "Stop lying, you bloody son of a bitch" I cussed at him.

He chuckled "How about I give you a proposition?", I locked my eyes on his movements then he sighed "C'mon, Zach, you can trust me." He gestured the glitches to go and they vanished immediately, "I never trusted you nor will I." I snapped making him grinned "You've always been the smart kid."

He kept our contact then finally he spoke "You're not the only one who wants her, Zach. We both know she's the key to all of this." He turned and returned to his sit. He glared at me "I want nothing from you, Zach. I only want her" he stated, I released my sword and snapped "Over my dead body.", He let out a heavy sigh then before I know it, I got slapped to the wall and purple light was around my ankles & wrists. "I was going to take this civilize" he said shrugging his shoulders, I'm powerless.

"As I was saying, I am going to give you a proposition. Give me Sapphire and I will spare your lives." He added with a smirk, "I won't." I denied him. His eyes widen with rage and slammed me to the ceiling. Holy fuck, that hurt. "You have always been a coward, Dmitri. Using spells and chants than your own hands" I mocked trying my best to get up but before I could do that he slammed me a few times around the room until blood was running down my nose and mouth "Give up?" He asked approaching me and releasing the spell off me, I fell to the floor on my back then Dmitri knelled down beside me and said "I just don't want my hands to get dirty. Now, hand me Sapphire"
