Chapter 5 - Nightmares

I had a dream. No, not a dream, a nightmare. I'm afraid of heights, phobia even, so there I was on top of the tallest skyscraper I was barefoot, just one small step forward I could fall I heard someone's calling my name as I turn my head it was my mom and dad. They said something but I couldn't hear them as though I'm deaf but I whisper "I love you" and then a black rope was tied around me and pulled me down.

I woke up catching my breath and looked around. Thank God, it was a dream then I heard someone knocking the door, I scratched my head and got out of bed to open the door, "Good morning" James said with a smile "I see that you got some pajamas" he continued scanning my body from my feet to my eyes again, I flushed by the way he smirked, "You okay?" He asked but I replied with my head nodded, James put his hand on my head and smiled "Get ready, breakfast is in the kitchen, okay" he said leaving me, James is such a gentleman. I did what I'm told, I wore the same outfit as yesterday, my blue skinny jeans with my black tank and pink cream blouse, I got bags under my eyes but I try to look presentable.

As I'm ready, I went out and searched for the kitchen. "Oops sorry, Angie" Leo apologized bumping me, his hair was ginger as ever, he was wearing a T-shirt that had a tribal pattern pocket on the right chest with black jeans and sneakers. I waved my hand gesturing "It's okay" then he asked "You wanna go for breakfast?" I nodded and we walked together. ""Angie"? Really?" I asked realizing he called my name in a different way, he smirked, seriously what's with these guys and smirking? Don't they know that it's attractive as fuck? "Yeah, "Angie", you don't like it? Cause I do" he replied still with the smirk, as I was about to reply my whole body tensed up and I felt cold, I stopped to hug myself. "Angie? You okay?" Asked Leo in concern after knowing my act, I don't like this feeling, "I sense...something" I muttered, in a flash Leo picked me up bridal style and we went to the floating jewel room.

Leo put me down on a table on the left side of the room, then I felt I was falling something is pulling me "Angie, angie, this gonna hurt a little" Leo said putting his both hands on my stomach, suddenly I felt a sting on my chest I groaned of pain and a bright yellow light covered my stomach to my chest, it was painful as though I've been kicked out on my stomach after that I passed out. I opened my eyes and rose from my faint, I looked around then I saw Leo. He was sleeping on a chair across me, I approched him and realized he's shoulder is bleeding I covered my mouth as I gasped towards it.

Leo woke up and smiled at me but his eyes was filled with concern, he saw my reaction and the smile was gone when he realized I knew about his shoulder. I muttered "what happened?" Leo let out a heavy sigh and said "A shadow got into your mind, it was damaging your mind with nightmares and fears" "And your shoulder?" My eyes were locked on Leo's shoulder and anxiety filled my body, Leo covered the wound with his hand and gave me a smile "I'll be fine. You should go see Velvet, he was here but you fainted" he replied walking out from the room.

What happened? What's a "Shadow"? Why me? What do I have? There are a lot of questions inside my mind and I need to find out for each one. I paced to Velvet's study room and opened the door instantly once I reached it. "Eve." He said looking at me, I can't describe his face, he looked anxious but at the same time angry. "What happened? Why was Leo's shoulder wounded? What is a "Shadow"? Seriously, Velvet, you need to tell me every single detail!" I exclaimed to him with a loud voice. That's it I was angry, I don't like being the confuse one, I don't like not knowing what I'm about to face, and I especially don't like people sacrificing for me.

"Sit down, Eve." Velvet pulled a chair for me to sit, I sat and waited for him to say something. Velvet sighed and finally spoke "A shadow is some kind of minions, it can paralyze people by giving fears and nightmares. If that shadow is still inside you, you would probably be brainwashed and you got only hours to live..." "So, I'll be useless?" I asked cutting him off "No, Eve, you'll be like a killing machine to them in hours then... they'll exterminate you" Velvet said with his eyes locked to mine.

"Leo fought the shadow, he wasn't strong enough cause it takes at least half of his energy just to take the shadow out. What's tricky about Shadows is that we can't lay a finger on them but they can to us. The shadow hit Leo's arm like a blade, therefore making him injured but Leo used his light power to get rid of the shadow. Good thinking he brought you to the Jewel Room" Velvet finished his explanation and yet I still feel not satisfied. I got up from the chair and paced to the door then Velvet stopped me "Eve, you have no idea what you're capable of. Shadows, shapeshifts, and then the whole Amethyst army will come and rule the Crystal Empire, YOUR world. You'll know your past soon, just let it flow and please... think about this" Velvet pleaded, I left the room and walked.

For the first time in 3 days, I walked outside the mansion and just wander next thing I knew... I'm lost. Well fuck.

I'm sorry I havent update for... well a long time, writer's block and whatnot but I promise you that this story is on the go!
