Chapter 24 - Awkward

The car ride was awkward as hell, I kept looking at the window and when I glanced at Zach I realized Zach was shirtless so I cleared my throat and said "Aren't you cold? You can take your shirt back", he shook his head "No, I'm alright. Just wear that and keep yourself warm" he denied locking his eyes on the road, I leaned against my seat and thought "Did nothing just happened? Why does he look so calm? This is more confusing than Crystal Empire stuff combine"

We reached the Jewel Institute and as we park Zach got out to open the door for me, when we were about to walked inside I called "Zach!" Then he turned aroubd and replied "What?", I took off his shirt and threw it to him "Wear it, idiot! People will think that we're..." I told him looking away, Zach approached me and smirked "We're what?", I groaned "Just wear it!" As I walked away from Zach.

I opened the door and Leo was talking with Velvet, they looked at me and smiled but I rushed through them. I could hear footsteps behind me and Leo asked "Angie, are you okay?" he put his hand on my shoulder, I shook my head and continued walking as Leo let go of his hand. When I reached Giselle's room I closed the door as soon as I got inside, I leaned against it and panting. I cover my face with my hands and thought "Did... Zach and I just kissed? He was asking for it, but why? Feelings? But I replied him, holy fuck. It's my first kiss too!" I paced back and forth thinking of a way how to face Zach after this.

"Maybe I should just avoid him" I told myself then nodding my head agreeing to that thought, when I was busy with my mind a knock on the door brought me back to reality "Angie?" I heard Leo called from the other side "You seemed shaky, you okay?" He asked, opened a little of the door "I'm... I'm okay, Leo... just tired, that's all. Getting ready for bed" I lied with a smile, Leo raised his eyebrow and stared at me for awhile but eventually he nodded "Alright then, goodnight" he said leaving.

I closed the door and sighed, might as well get some sleep to reduce this stress.

I couldn't sleep for a second last night, I rose up from the bed with a headache and when I opened the door Zach was passing by and we eye contacted. Shit. Zach looked away after a few seconds and so did I, we had an awkward silent until Leo came and greeted me "Morning, Angie! How are you feeling?", I gave Leo a smile and acted Zach wasn't there.

Cruel? Yes, but I can't stand the awkwardness.

"Hey, Zach. You're going for breakfast?" Leo smiled at him, "No." Zach snapped walking away after glancing at me. "Well, that guy is extra cold today" Leo commented with a chuckle, "Let's eat!" He added putting his arm around my shoulder. We walked side by side without a word "You're awfully quiet, Angie. Seriously what's up? What did Zach do? Did he harrassed you or something?" Leo questioned stopping and facing me. Why can't I lie to Leo? I sighed "Something happened between me and...Zach", "And that is?" Leo said with his eyebrow raised, "We kissed?" I whispered, "YOU KISSED?!" Leo repeated loudly and his eyes widen, I cover his mouth with my hand "Sssstt!" I told him looking right and left hoping no one heard it.

Leo's eyes still widen "I will let go of my hand now, don't freak out" I told him quietly, he nodded and I slowly remove my hand from his mouth. "You and Zach? But...you guys... he... you...kiss...what...where...when..." he stuttered then I confessed "Last night, in a beach." "Holy... this is... wow... just... I don't know" he said with a face I cannot define.

He turned towards the wall then turned back again instantly and asked "But how come you looked like you're nemesis this morning??" I shrugged my shoulder "I don't know, he apologized after the kiss and we went back." I told him then I continued "There I said it, can we not continue this conversation? Made me more awkward than before" I walked away towards the dining room and Leo followed.

"I don't know how to react, Angie. This is such a Love Triangle" Leo added, I glanced at him and he smirked "With James feelings towards you, Zach and the kiss, plus Zach & James aren't close as they used to now", I groaned "Uuugghh... don't remind me, Leo"

We arrived at the dining room and Velvet & James were there talking, James glanced at me and gave me a warm smile. Dammit, I can't act natural. He approached me and pulled a chair for me, "How are you, Eve?" James asked, I smiled and said "I'm...never been better" James sat down beside me. He just had to sat there.

Breakfast went fine, I didn't talk much. I went down to the basement and train some more, but my head was somewhere else. Is it a dream? Why did Zach acted like nothing happened? Why am I feeling like this?

I groaned and slammed my sword to the ground then laid down. I got up and when I opened the door, guess who was there? Yep. Zach. Why do we kept bumping to each other??

"Hey" Zach called infront his Ruby door, "Hi" I replied then it all went silent "I see you're done training" I spoke breaking the ice, Zach scratch the back of his neck and replied "um... yeah". I cleared my throat and took a few steps towards him then I said "Look, Zach, for me being near you feels...awkward because of what happened last night and don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about because you damned well know what's up. So, I got no idea how to..." suddenly I felt paralyzed and my vision was blurry, I could only hear Zach calling my name as I felt pain inside of me. After awhile of aching, I had no control of my body anymore.

"Eve?" Zach called approaching me "Eve? Are you okay?" He continued as he reached for me, I released my sword and pointed at him "Woah! Eve! Calm down!" He told me with his hands up. We were face to face "Eve, this is not you. Snap out of it!" Zach shouted, we had a pause and suddenly I went for a charge at him. He made me fell with a chant "Evangline." He called my name again, I got up and charged him with my sword.

My god, why can't I control my body?!

Zach reveal his sword and block his face as our blades met, I got no idea how strong I was. Zach teleported and appeared behind me, he hold me so I couldn't move but I kept on struggling. "Eve!" He called, my sword fell down from my grip and so did my knees. I felt weak and couldn't feel anything from my body, Zach laid my head on his palm, I could see him calling my name over and over again after awhile everything went pitch black.
