Chapter 3 - Why?

I heard a loud bang near me, I looked around but no one was there. I got up then suddenly a portal popped up in front me and a wolf jumped out from it. It pushed me until I hit the ground; it pinned me down and growled at me. Those sharp teeth were only inches away from my face, I tried to fight it and succeed getting out from it's trap. It was across me now, its eyes were looking at me with anger "You must die!" it screamed while running toward me. It jumped and I closed my eyes, I assumed I should have felt its teeth chewing me off but I didn't.

I opened my eyes and Zach was in front of me with some kind of force field "YOU IDIOT!" he shouted while holding that shield. The wolf was trying to get inside the shield and I could see Zach trying his best to resist it. A flame ran through his arm and burst toward the wolf, knocking it off and the wolf vanished into thin air. Zach took a deep breath and turned around to look at me.

"Why are you here?" he asked with an unhappy face, "I... I don't know, what was that?" I stuttered standing up "Yeah, you're welcome" Zach replied rolling his eyes, he turned his back towards me and started walking then I shouted "What was that?!" he stopped and sighed "That was a shape-shifter. Amethyst sent it to kill you because that way all plans will be ruin" he walked out from the door but I stopped him again "I need answers, Zach. I have no freaking idea what's going on." I told him honestly, he turned "Read a book. Search in the internet. Don't be a stupid spoiled princess" he said giving me a glare then walked away. I felt annoyed so went to the kitchen to search for food. I caught my eye on a basket of fresh baked and sliced garlic bread, I took one and immediately put it inside my mouth when I heard someone called me as I turned it was James, I greeted him back without a mouth full of food, he responded with a smile.

"I see you have tasted the garlic bread I made" he said aiming his eyes towards the bread, my eyes widen and gulp instantly "Oh my god, so sorry for eating without asking you. I mean... Oh man, I am so damn rude" I apologized covering my face of embarrassment with my hand; I took a deep breath and said "It tasted good. Really good", he approached me and asked "Are you alright?" I took one of the garlic bread without realizing and put it in my mouth while mumbled "Yes? No? I don't know." he let out a small laugh towards my action, "You could have it, you know. I can make more" he offered handing me the basket of garlic bread, my eyes widen as I took it from him "Bless your soul, child" I thanked him walking out from the kitchen. I seriously acted weird when food is involved. I walked around this massive building when I stumbled upon a ladder.

I looked above it and there was a door, "maybe it's an attic" I wondered so I went up and found myself in the middle of a secret gallery. I was awed by it, there were various of paintings and sculptures but my favorite was a painting of a girl with brown hair holding a dandelion just beneath her chin, she was beautiful even with her eyes closed "What are you doing?" someone snapped bringing me back to reality.

I turned and Zach stood there with his arms crossed and stared at me, I gulped and smiled "Garlic bread?" I hand out a slice but he kept looking at me "No, thank you" he replied cold "You shouldn't be here" he added walking towards me, "Well... You shouldn't let the ladder visible" I replied and immediately face palm myself for the bad excuse, we had a silence so I asked "Who painted this?" I pointed at the painting, Zach cleared his throat and said "I did", my eyes widen then I smirked showing my disbelief he faced me "You barged in here with James' cooking and humiliate me with that smirk of yours? Great, just great." he scowled, "Sheesh. Fine, I believe you and I'm going now" I told him rolling my eyes and inserting bread in my mouth before going down the ladder.
