Shattered Jewels

Chapter 4 - Flashback

I walked back to the library and caught Velvet was reading a floating book in front of him, I coughed to get his attention but failed "Velvet!" I called, the book fell and Velvet looked startle "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" I apologized, he picked up the book "It's okay..." he replied calmly. I approched him and cleared my throat "So... Velvet" his eyes met mine, before I could say anything he already cut me off "Look, Eve, I know everything that's happening now is confusing for you and I don't blame anyone for it. I was confuse as you are when I was chosen, so do you what you have to do" he lifted my chin up so I can meet his eyes, "there's nothing to worry about, okay" he smiled and somehow it made me feel better, I nodded as an agreement and walked out from the library.

"Eve!" Lionel called me, he waved and walked toward me "How are you?" he asked, I raised my eyebrow and laugh a little "I'm okay, thanks, Leo" I answered, "Leo?" he questioned with a smirk "Yeah, Lionel for short I call you "Leo", save up my voice" I said hitting his upperarm, "Ehm... I like it" he agreed then we walked side by side. I liked the silence, it wasn't awkward at all but then Leo broke the ice "Complicated, huh?" he said turning his head toward me. He grabbed my wrist and said "C'mon, I need to show you something". So I followed him he led me down to the end of the hall but we stopped infront of a white door, he opened the door for me and I stepped inside. There were 5 floating jewels inside glasses, what caught my eye was the blue one.

"You sensed Sapphire, didn't you?" Leo brought me the reality, I was so caught on the blue zephyr jewel that I almost felt paralyzed. I gave him a nod then he approched the bright yellow jewel, he opened the glass and the jewel hovered above his palm. Leo closed his eyes and I could see his mouth chanting something then the whole room covered with bright yellow light, slowly images appeared. "This is my history." he claimed, I turned over to him with my brow raised then he continued "My whole life before this point. I was chosen when I was 12,you didn't know what power you had until it burst. I've only known my mother until I was 4, she hid me from the Glitches under the secret passage way..." "Glitches?" I asked cutting him off, " Amethyst's men" I mouth and "O" then he continued "The glitches took my mother and killed her in front of my own eyes" as Leo told me that part, I saw a little ginger haired boy looking through a small gap of a secret door, he looked terrified then I saw a hand of the woman in front of the gap from that I knew it was Leo's mom, I covered my mouth with both my hands showing concern, I looked at Leo and he was staring at me then he continued his story "After what I saw, my uncle took me in, he was a good man but not really a good subtitute parent, he gave me food and shelter but he was himself and I'm myself, we know very little about each other"

"Although, he's the only family I had. One day, everything was doing fine but then Glitches came everywhere and destroy the whole damn village, I got stuck inside the broken house, I heard my uncle callung my name but I didn't have the power to reply until this yellow neon was glowing in my hand, it went through all over my body, I was lifted and I was floating, then I burst light from each of my body and making all of the glitches vanished. I collapsed and by the time I woke up, a man was there to greet me. He was about as the same age as my uncle, he was wearing a formal suit and his name was Rafè, he was a Sapphire like you"

"He told me almost the same thing as we are telling you, Rafè asked my uncle is he could be my guardian, my uncle said yes, so I went home with Rafè, there he introduced me to James, and as the time goes by I met new people and I learn more about my powers. One day, me and Velvet were just patroling on the east side when James came looked horrified, I knew something was up. Rafè was held captive by the glitches, we looked everywhere but by the time we found him, it was too late. Rafè got stabbed right before our eyes, Zach fought the glitches with all his might, he was using anger to his power, he defeated all of the glitches single-handedly, he got a rough history but that's his side not mine so I can't tell you" Leo stopped to give me a smile then he continued

"Rafè was stab deep, if we move him, he would die instantly, with his last dying breath he told us to find another Sapphire so the Shattered Jewel will be complete and Amethyst will go down. We searched and searched and searched. Then you came into the picture..." Leo stopped then I realized his history is finished, he put back the jewel to the glass and face me, his hands were on my shoulders and he said "That's what you must find. Your history of being chosen, the 5w 1h questions of all of this and one more thing, you got to stay here until you find out your history because if you leave then everything will be messed up and that won't be pretty. No, we're not going to rape you or some bloody shit like that, we are destined to protect each other's jewels, okay?" he gave me a smile and we walked out from the room.

Leo escorted me to my room and I thank him for sharing his history, I closed the door and let out a heavy sigh. This is all too much to process, I need sleep and since Leo told me I can't leave might as well use thise bedroom of theirs. I opened the wardrobe inside the room and found a T-shirt & a pair of sweatpants, I put them on then slammed myself to the bed and swept away to sleep.
