Ghost's pov
Song inspo 11 minutes by Halsey & YUNGBLOOD

It was still too early when I heard my phone go off more than once from the bedside table. I only had the damn thing for emergencies, if someone on base needed to get a hold of me while I wasn't there. When I went on missions it stayed at the house. I didn't even bother saving any contacts into it, I knew whoever had the number needed me to pick up when they called.

Senna stirred next to me and it was torture to pull my eyes off her naked body as I forced myself to roll over and feel around for the cellphone. Sleeping beside her was the best sleep I ever had and I was pissy that someone had to go and ruin it.

"What?" I said quietly but angrily into the phone as I answered and pressed it to my ear.

"Sorry, Simon. We have to move." Price's voice came through the phone, he sounded tired too.

"Al-Qatala?" I asked as I slowly moved to sit up and lean back against the headboard. I hadn't told Senna what we'd been up to while she'd been gone for two years. She hadn't asked, I knew she had enough on her mind already but now I was regretting not filling her in.

"Yea. We leave for Urzikstan, now." He answered and I hesitated to ask about Senna but it seemed as if the man had read my mind. "Senna should come back to base and wait to hear from Kate. Soap's with us."

"Right. Give me an hour." I said before hanging up and tossing the phone to the side. Fuck.

She'd moved closer to me when my warmth left her but she was still sleeping, I hated to wake her.

"Senna." I said, reaching down to run my fingers through her hair.

Once I said her name her eyes opened, looking more alert than I expected but I shouldn't have been surprised.

"What is it?" She asked, her voice still tired and I fucking loved the sound of it.

"We have to go." I pulled the blankets off of me then and swung my legs over the bed before moving to start getting dressed.

"Where?"

"I'm going to Urzikstan with Price and Soap, you're going back to base to wait to hear from Laswell." I answered and I could feel her gaze piercing my back as I pulled on my shirt.

She didn't say anything at first, probably working it out in her head.

"Al-Qatala?" She asked and I gave her a nod as I did my belt. When I turned to look at her she hadn't started dressing yet. If she didn't start soon it would be even harder to leave on time.

"Yes." I answered.

"I can wait for Kate's call here." She said, I was expecting that.

"You shouldn't be here alone. We don't know if Graves will send more men."

"I can handle them if he does." She said stubbornly.

"Senna." I warned, stepping to stand in front of her.

"Simon." She said back, crossing her arms over her chest. "You know I-"

"I know." I cut her off. "But just come to base anyways."

"I should be going with you." She said, ignoring me but I relaxed a bit when she started to get dressed.

"Next time. Once we deal with Graves." I sat down to lace up my boots then but it took me a while since my eyes were focused on her.

I wanted her to come with, we hadn't gotten enough time since she got her memories back but we both knew this was the life, we'd signed up for it. It would always be like this, though I preferred when we were working together. I'd be able to have her back, and I trusted her to have mine.

"If Laswell calls before you get back.." She started, trailing off as she sat beside me to put on her own boots.

"I'll meet you there." I said, knowing she wouldn't wait if she got the call. But we all wanted to go after Graves, we wouldn't sit this one out.

I finished getting my gear on, what I had ready at the house anyways and we headed outside to the truck. Senna drove this time, I think she needed the distraction and I didn't mind having a little extra time to look at her.

I wouldn't say it out loud, knowing she'd tell me to be safe rather than reckless but I was going to do whatever I could to make this mission hurry and end. We needed to get back to being a team, we couldn't do this if we had to constantly wonder what the other was doing.

I knew Price didn't like the idea of her going after Graves alone either.

She parked the truck in the far back corner of the lot, where there weren't many other cars around. The sun hadn't come up yet so everyone else was still probably sleeping or just getting up for the day.

"What are you doing?" I asked as she maneuvered over so she could straddle my lap.

"What does it look like? Kissing you goodbye." She said as she pushed my balaclava up just enough so she could press her lips to mine. My arms instinctively wrapped around her waist to hold her close.

We didn't stay like that long, knowing there was never enough time. I wanted there to be but I also felt the other part of me ready to leave, ready to get to work. She knew it too, we shared that drive, that determination and I think that made me only love her more.

"Kill em all." She told me as she headed inside and I headed towards the air strip.

We hadn't actually said goodbye, and I preferred it that way. Once she was out of my sight she was on my mind but when I stepped onto the cargo plane I had to force her out, I had to be a soldier. If I wanted to come home to her I couldn't let her distract me. I had to do my job.
