"Dreamstate"
Ghost's pov
Song inspo Dreamstate by Dayseeker

We'd been gone a little over a week. It had taken too long but we were able to get the situation to a state where Farah could handle the rest on her own for now. The Al-Qatara was a long game and we were all itching to get back home and get an update on Graves. I needed to know how Senna was, if she'd left already without us or if we'd be able to go as a team. I was hoping for the latter.

About an hour out from base Price got a call from Laswell and he patched it through to our comm line so we could all listen.

"What's the news Kate?" He asked her and I could feel the tension build.

Soap and I shared a glance, waiting for her to tell us if she had already sent Senna out or not.

"We have a problem." She started and we all stayed silent ,waiting for her to continue. "Lieutenant Floren is in the US with Graves, but I didn't send her." She finally said. I could feel the confusion as my brow furrowed. My gaze moved to the floor, my thoughts racing. She wouldn't have gone after him on her own, would she?

No. Not without orders and information from Laswell.

"Was there an update?" Price asked, somehow calm.

"Yes but I didn't get to tell her. Graves is rogue, he doesn't work for anyone anymore. As of now he's marked as a terrorist." She explained but it didn't answer any questions.

"Can you reach her?" Price asked.

"Negative." Laswell answered. "I'm in New Mexico but when you get back you might want to see what she was up to before she left. Check her movements, maybe you'll get some answers for both of us. Let me know."

"Copy." The call ended then and we were all silent for a long time. Damnit Senna, why couldn't you listen for once?

"Something doesn't feel right." Soap muttered from the seat beside me.

He was right, but I didn't have to say anything to let him know I agreed.

The rest of the flight home was too long. Price wouldn't let us know our next move until we had more information. We were all tired from Urzikstan but I was ready to leave as soon as we landed back at base. I had told her I'd meet her there and I fully intended to.

When we landed Price told  us to go clean up, telling us to meet him in his office in about an hour. I went to Senna's quarters first, thinking maybe she'd left something behind, some kind of explanation. But there was nothing.

It didn't even seem like she had been there long after I left. Her katana and rifle were gone, along with some of her gear but it wasn't like I expected anything like that to be left behind.

My mind instantly went to Varikov and I had to question whether or not she'd made some kind of deal again but that didn't make sense. There was nothing Graves could be holding over her head.

Senna was reckless, sometimes vengeful but in this situation she wouldn't have left without orders, doing so wouldn't look good for her anyways.

I showered and changed, if only because I needed it and met Soap outside of Price's office. He gave me a knowing look but I shook my head.

"Nothing." I told him, Price beckoning us in once he heard us outside.

A laptop was open on his desk, facing our side with a paused video on the screen. It was surveillance footage from the base and behind the play button I could see Senna clearly.

"Simon, you know her best. Tell me what you think of this." Price instructed, and though I disagreed considering there were apparently things he knew about her that I didn't, I gave him a nod before pressing play.

She was walking down a hallway as it started, the time stamp for two days after we'd left. Everything looked normal, her expression relaxed, one hand tucked in the pocket of her cargo pants.

Her phone rang and she stopped to dig it out and hold it to her ear.

"Hello?" She said, I could barely hear her voice, the audio was not that great.

Her brow furrowed in confusion at first, then I could see anger over her features. She started to speak, I couldn't make most of it out but I heard her say his name. Graves. Then suddenly, her expression went blank, resembling something similar to how she looked when she'd woken up with no memories.

Calmly she hung up the phone, moved to drop it into a trash can and turned around to walk the other way. The video ended then and I looked up from the screen to Price.

"Is there more?" I asked and he nodded, moving to the next clip.

It was of her going into her quarters, with no cameras inside he had to fast forward to when she finally came out, about twenty minutes later. She was fully geared up, her weapons strapped to her back though I could see that her name and any other identifying patches or SAS logos were gone from her vest and clothing. She was in all black instead.

The cameras caught her leaving base but once she was gone, that was it.

"Her phone?" I managed to ask, trying to stay focused but I was panicking inside. Not again. We couldn't do this again, we were supposed to go after Graves as a team. What the fuck was she doing?

"No luck." Price answered as she shut the laptop. "Well?" He asked, looking at me expectantly.

"I don't know. Something changed, like a switch." I explained, moving to pace a bit but Soap's hand on my shoulder stopped me.

"She said Graves. Can we assume it was him that called her? We know it wasn't Laswell." Johnny wondered as we all turned the gears in our heads.

"Him reaching out to her directly smells like Varikov. It would help if we knew what his plans were." Price this time.

"We're going anyways right? Laswell gave us the okay to make our move." I asked, straightening up.

"The mission doesn't change, no. We find Graves, alive, find out where the missiles are and what he plans with them and along the way hopefully catch up with Cadaver." He answered and Soap and I moved to stand at the ready.

"Let me update Kate, we'll move out in the morning." He added then and though it wasn't soon enough for me I gave a nod before heading for my quarters, needing time and quiet to try to figure out what Senna was up to.

I hoped she had a plan, and I was hoping sooner rather than later that she'd loop us in.
