Ghost's pov
Song inspo Immortalize by Crown The Empire
"Why did you bring those?" Soap asked Price as our heli began to lower where we were meeting Laswell.
"Just a hunch." Price answered as he zipped up a duffle bag that carried three katanas, one for each of us. I didn't get it, none of us knew how to use them, not like Senna. But Price always seemed to know more about her than he let on so I didn't question it. I was just ready to get there and figure out what her plan was.
We were ready, something told us we didn't have time to wait, not if Senna had already gone ahead to go after Graves. We didn't know whatever she did but she also hadn't left us anything to figure it out.
The plan was for Laswell to take us to where we thought he was hiding out with his 'crew', take them out and capture him alive. Killing him wasn't an option as much as I wanted to. We couldn't risk losing the missiles again. It was our one mistake when Senna took out Varikov. We thought we had all of them tracked down, but we hadn't.
"Good to have you all here." Laswell said as the heli took off, she was waiting by a blacked out SUV. Leave it to the CIA to be obnoxious while thinking they're inconspicuous.
"Anything new?" I asked as we all climbed in, Price up front and Soap and I in the back.
"No, there hasn't been any movement in a few days. I think whatever he's up to he's about to put in motion." She explained as she pulled off.
"And the lieutenant?" Price asked and Laswell seemed uncomfortable, looking in the rear view mirror at us before back at Price. "Go ahead."
"She's been spotted in the compound, multiple times over the last few days." She explained and Price pulled out a cigar and lit it.
"So they've captured her and he's flashing her around?" Soap asked as I looked out the window, thinking while taking in the environment. I had never been to New Mexico, but Senna had spent two years here. I knew she hadn't told me everything when she told me what she had been up to while she was away.
"Not exactly." Laswell said.
"Meaning?" I asked, meeting Price's gaze in the mirror.
"She has her weapons and her gear, she looks free to move around as she pleases. She's not a prisoner." She continued and I took a breath. She'd done it again, lied and made some type of deal, that had to be it. Something to get her close to him, on the inside.
"Varikov all over again." Soap muttered, and I knew he was thinking the same thing.
"Something is off, like we're missing something." Price said, taking a puff off his cigar before letting the hand that held it hang out the window.
"You'll be able to find out soon enough. I'll drop you far enough away they won't see you coming and I'll find high ground to cover you from. Remember, we need Graves alive." Laswell explained, although I wasn't sure how exactly we'd be able to sneak up considering we were in the middle of the desert.
We didn't speak for the rest of the drive and eventually Laswell pulled off the dirt road and parked behind a monadnock, a large rock formation jutting out from the ground and up towards the sky. The New Mexico desert was littered with them. If she managed to climb it she'd be able to cover us like she said.
Luckily the space between us and the compound was hillier than I expected, with peaks and low valleys that would hide us until we came to the plain where the compound sat. You could almost see it from where we were.
"How many men?" Price asked as he dropped the duffle bag to the ground, handing Soap and I a katana before strapping his own to his back. Senna would laugh at us when she saw us with them.
