It's silent. The both of us are sitting and staring straight ahead, lost in our own separate worlds.
Could those two worlds merge and become one? My mind asks me this so suddenly it causes my eyes to widen. I know I want Delilah but I thought I was drowning those feelings and accepting friendship, just friendship with her.
I guess I was wrong.
Thinking about soccer and the stress in my life I think about the only person who can make all that go away. Determination washes over me. If we were only friends and she makes my life so much better, dare I ask what would happen if we were together?
A life with Delilah, a future sounds like complete bliss, a dream out of reach. A thought that comes but you know is near impossible.
Delilah was like your favorite book, you daydream and think about and wish to be a part of its life, just how I wish I could permanently be a part of hers.
Well I've always been one to aim for the impossible besides who knows there's always a chance for the impossible to become possible.
With Delilah I'd do about anything to try and get her to be mine.
Starting now.
Glancing towards her I see her beautiful self with her head laid against her seat, her eyes trained upwards outside the window staring at the slight visibility of a few stars as well as the moon that's still not full. The glow of it shines on her face giving her an enchanting look, a magical one. I always thought Delilah was too beautiful for our world, inside and out. And seeing her everyday just confirms my thoughts.
It's like she was a character out of a book.
My favorite character.
Her eyes close briefly as her ears listen to the songs from the playlist she had picked. When she first got in the car she was fidgeting due to the attack she had minutes before I could tell by her face she was feeling self conscious so without a word I handed her my phone to pick songs.
My gaze moves to her arm that's resting between us on the arm rest. My hand, as if it has a mind of its own, gently grabs hers, enterwining our hands together in the process.
I feel her stiffen and out of the edge of my eyes I can see her eyes widen and the light blush coating her cheeks.
I love it when I can make her blush.
She turns her head towards me while she's still resting it against the headrest, I do the same so we're both looking at each other.
"Better?" She asks quietly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful atmosphere we created.
I nod slowly as an idea starts forming in my mind "But I could be better."
She tilts her head slightly in such an adorable way I have to stop myself from smiling at the action.
"Could you do me a favor Lilah?" I ask tentatively, holding back the smile that always seems to be threatening to come out around her.
"Anything." She says it so firmly it warms my insides, "if it'll make you feel better anything."
I smile before reaching to the back seat, I feel her gaze on the side of my face as I look for something I've always wanted to give her.
I hand her my jersey, the jersey that has my last name and my number 17. "Will you wear this for me tomorrow at the game?" I ask her handing her my jersey, "It's clean I promise" I add weakly at the stunned look on her face.
