"You're late." The new commander of the Holy Sol's Shadow grumbled as Vic stepped into their cavernous underground lair.
"Yeah. Well. Maybe next time you could pick a meeting place that isn't in a miserable labyrinth." Vic dusted rubble from his charcoal tailored suit.
The commander ignored that comment. "The emperor informed us that we are to be at your disposal. That you have a plan to kill Benimaru Shinmon."
Vic's lips curled into a lopsided smirk. "Yes. And he informed me that your wounded egos might give you a vested interest in that endeavor?" The commander's brooding silence answered Vic's rhetorical question. "I just finished meeting with some friends of mine. They will isolate Benimaru at the border of his territory-"
"That's a suicide mission." The commander interrupted.
"They know. So don't let their sacrifices be in vain." Vic pulled a slim gold cigarette case from his pocket. "They can buy you maybe 10 minutes. Maybe. If he's as sleep deprived as our informants say." He pulled out a black cigarette. "Realistically, more like 5. But, that should be more than enough time to secure 1 unpowered girl. The Samurai will be away. Kill the twins if it's convenient, but the priority is capturing Benimaru's precious lieutenant L/n. If you need to hurt her, that's fine. But I need her alive." He snapped his fingers for a light and took a deep inhale.
"Easy. Anyone else?"
"No." He puffed. "We can't make too much of a mess. If too many people in Asakusa die, that doesn't look good for our emperor."
"Can't we just blame that on Benimaru's recklessness?"
Vic sighed. "Such little regard for life." He critiqued.
"That's rich, coming from you, Ambassador." The commander arms folded across his chest. "The people of Asakusa all live in defiance of the emperor."
"And, they'll run back to the emperor once they realize their beloved Benimaru doesn't give a shit what happens to them."
The commander shook his head. "So your entire plan and all our lives rest on the idea that he cares so much about some woman?"
Vic inhaled his luxury cigarette. "I was skeptical too. Until I saw him with her. You and I would never understand it... We'd give anything to have his power, his life. But. He cares more for her than he does for his own life. Trust me."

Haru slammed Gaku's door open. "SIR! We need you!"
"What-"
"Something is happening at the border- 3 infernals so far-" At Haru's panicked voice, Gaku jumped down the stairs in 3 long strides without changing out of his black t-shirt and gray sweatpants pajamas.
"Which border?" Gaku asked, already out the door, barefoot.
"Our border with the 8th!" He called after him as Gaku lit the matoi outside his home.
Gaku landed a few feet behind the fighting Benimaru. "What got you out of bed, old man?"
"Thought you could use some help, kid."
Beni gripped the shrouded face of the white clad extremist and combusted their skull with a loud crack. "Nah. I'm fine." The assailant's dead body crumpled below the captain. He wasn't pulling punches today.
3 of the white clad looked at each other in panic, before they pulled out their bug vials. Beni clicked his tongue with an unimpressed eye roll and crossed his arms. He slid one hand inside his kimono as he waited patiently for their bodies to burn and horns to grow. "We offer ourselves to the Evangelist." They declared before their voices distorted beyond the capability for human speech.
